Ok, I have to start by saying that I am not too fond of my mandoline, but have been trying to use it at home to get more comfortable so hopefully I can use it at shows. However, it is getting orange carrot stains on it and while most of the orange color comes off, there is still a noticeable stain. I am a fairly new consultant (Nov. 2010), so I have only used this product 4-5 times. Is this normal or should I contact PC?

Thanks!

I found that carrots stain a lot of things and I don't know how you can avoid it. After a run mine throught the dishwasher, the stains go away. For me, I just tell them that carrots may stain it.

Sandi

I have always been told to rub vegetable oil on the carrot stains and that gets rid of it.

magic eraser will get the carrot stains off.

I just love those magic erasers. I never thought about using them on the mandoline. I will have to try that.. Thanks

I had the same problem. I added a little water to baking soda. I didn't think it did a good job, but when I got it out at my show, I couldn't see the stains. I called the HO on it before I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought it was, the lady suggested trying bleach water. Hope some of these ideas work for you!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes orange carrot stains on my Pampered Chef mandoline?

Carrot stains are caused by the natural pigments in carrots, particularly beta-carotene, which can cling to surfaces. The porous nature of some materials can make it challenging to remove these stains completely.

How can I effectively remove orange carrot stains from my mandoline?

To remove stains, try soaking the mandoline in warm soapy water for a few minutes, then scrub gently with a non-abrasive sponge. For stubborn stains, a paste of baking soda and water can be applied and left for a few minutes before scrubbing.

Are there any specific cleaning products recommended for my mandoline?

It’s best to use mild dish soap and warm water for regular cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the surface of the mandoline. Vinegar or lemon juice can also help with stain removal due to their natural acidity.

Can I put my Pampered Chef mandoline in the dishwasher?

While some parts of the mandoline may be dishwasher safe, it’s recommended to hand wash the mandoline to maintain its quality and prevent staining. Always check the care instructions specific to your model.

What should I do if the stains persist after cleaning?

If stains remain after cleaning, consider using a specialized plastic cleaner or a product designed for kitchen tools. Regular maintenance and immediate cleaning after use can help prevent future staining.
