do you tax shipping? I am so confused.........

Yes, take the product total + 4.25 x tax ammount.

Depends on the state law. Arkansas law does tax shipping but not all states do tax shipping.

Depends on the state. Some states do not collect tax on shipping.

I think it is somewhere on either the 3-part or computer receipt which states are which. I am sure it is somewhere on CC too.

From policies and procedures:

"In most states, shipping and handling is taxed. Refer
to the shipping and handling charges on the back of the
sales receipt to check your state."

Pantry items (tax rate or to tax or not vary state by state too)

EDIT:
This was on CC under Tax Guide:
NOTE: Remember that there is no sales tax for the following states: Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon, and, as such, will not be in the drop-down menu. Shipping and handling charges are taxable in all states except AK, DE, DC, IA, ID, IL, MA, MT, NH, OH, OK, OR, UT and WY.

my leader told me it was taxable. I am in mass

NO, shipping is not taxable in MA.
So when your adding up orders at a show (by hand) total the products add 5% sales then add shipping to that total. Remember our pantry products aren't taxable either.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pay taxes on shipping charges for my Pampered Chef sales?

Yes, in many states, shipping charges are subject to sales tax if the items being sold are taxable. This means that if you are charging customers for shipping on taxable items, you may need to collect sales tax on those shipping charges as well.

Are there any exceptions to taxing shipping fees?

Yes, some states have specific exemptions where shipping fees are not taxable. For example, if the shipping charge is separately stated and the item being shipped is exempt from sales tax, then the shipping charge may also be exempt. It's important to check your state’s regulations for specific rules.

How do I determine if shipping is taxable in my state?

You can determine if shipping is taxable by consulting your state's department of revenue website or contacting them directly. They usually provide guidelines on what is taxable, including shipping charges, and can help clarify any specific situations.

What should I do if I mistakenly charged tax on shipping?

If you mistakenly charged tax on shipping when it shouldn't have been taxed, you may need to refund the tax amount to your customer. Additionally, you should adjust your sales tax reporting for that period to reflect the correction.

Do I need to keep records of shipping charges for tax purposes?

Yes, it is advisable to keep detailed records of all shipping charges, as well as any sales tax collected. This documentation will be helpful for tax reporting and in case of an audit by tax authorities.
