Can Someone Explain the Bridal Shower Show?

I've been reading for so long tonight that my eyes are burning. Can someone explain to me what and how the bridal shower works and then the wedding registry? I'm so confused.

My co-worker is having a party next weekend and when I mentioned that we did bridal showers and wedding registries so became very excited. Her niece is getting married and she thinks she would be interested. The problem is I don't really know anything about it.

Basically, a shower is separate from the wedding registry. A shower is where the guests purchase gifts from the bride's (or bride & groom's) wishlist, which you'll have gotten from the bride before the shower. They can also purchase things for themselves. The bride is the host, so she gets any host specials. The person throwing the shower is a co-host, so she gets 10% off for the next year.That's a quickie version. Hope it makes sense.

I love doing bridal showers -- basically just like a cooking show, except all about the bride -- my demo is shorter and the bride gets all of the host benefits!
