I am wondering if any of the veterans on here do their own taxes? And if so, do you use a certain brand of software that works good for this type of business? Any tips would be very helpful. Thanks!

Many do. I have used Tax act every year I have been in Biz. It is pretty easy.

I use turbo tax for small businesses. It has always worked well for me. This will be my third year using it.

I use Tax Act as well, but you don't have to pay to file as small business. It can all be done on 1040.

Gotta love FREE!!!

So I will be able to put in all expenses on a regular form and do not need to do small business? Thanks for the info.

you will have to attach a schedule C to the 1040. I use Tax cut to do mine and it asks the questions and generates the form automatically.

I use TurboTax online. I started with the basic one, and then through the questions it asked it upgraded me to another version because of the business income. I'll probably do the same this year. Plus it's got all my tax forms from the last 7 years on the website whenever I need them.

I've used TurboTax for several years. I used TaxAct last year for my mom's taxes - and discovered that TurboTax is much more user friendly!

Plus - my understanding when I was doing her taxes was that the basic TaxAct forms were free, but if you needed to add in small business stuff you did have to pay.

I have never paid extra for my business forms. Must have been different version than what I used. And I always start my return before Dec 31st and they give you a special price.
