Empowering Teens to Serve Others: Youth Group Fundraiser Ideas and Tips

SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on effective fundraising strategies for church youth groups, specifically through skill-based demos and sales goals. A successful example involves a Mother's Day meal demo that serves as a kickoff for a mission fundraiser, where each of the 15 youth members aims to sell $300 worth of products. This approach can potentially raise $4,500 for the group, with additional incentives like gift certificates for top sellers. The importance of structured order collection sessions is also highlighted to facilitate sales.

I have a potential host (and in my opinion a potential recruit) who would like to do a fundraiser for her church youth group (about nine kids and their friends). She wants to do a demo that they learn a kitchen skill which will help them serve others (make mother's day meal, take gift to sick friend or something). That demo will be the kick off to a mission fundraiser. Any thougths or experience? THANKS.....

I think rings are great. They are easy but make a big WOW when they are done.

Bee,

A lady in my cluster is doing this same thing, except she is not doing a demo. I think the Mother's Day meal is a great idea to kick off the campaign. Anyway, the lady in my cluster game each youth member a "packet" with order forms, 2 catalogs and an envelope for money. Each youth member has a goal of $300.00 in sales and they have about 15 youth participating. If the 15 reach their goal, that's a $4,500.00 show for her and the youth gets $675.00. She is also setting up 30 minutes each Sunday morning in her fellowship hall to collect orders for them before Sunday school. They have 3 weeks to sell so it should be fairly easy to get the $300. She's giving the top seller a gift certificate to our local mall as an incentive.
