What is a TRIFLE BOWL?!!!!!

cgreen
01-08-2007, 05:59 PM
Usually a straight sided bowl (like an upside down cake holder), that you make layered desserts in...

I would love to have a PC trifle bowl. It's a bowl that looks like the pic I attached. It's for making trifles or layered desserts in this large beautiful glass bowl. Layers of jello and whipped cream. Or layers of chocolate pudding, chocolate cake, whipped cream, etc...

YUMMY!!!

Debbie :D

This is what a Trifle bowl is, I love them, wanted one, but wouldn't spend the $ if I couldn't use at shows!!

http://www.zaccardis.com/home-essentials-trifle-bowl.html

Hope this helps.

If you've ever been to a TOH cooking show they ALWAYS do a dessert in one to give away.

It's usually a bowl in glass or ceramic with a pedastle stand under? I just googled it and it gave me some pics. I'm dying to know more info...

I am going to be so impatient, I know my director won't spill the beans until the meeting which I haven't been to one in a long time and I probablly won't be able to go to. Kristen - sorry to hear about your bronchitis - hope it clears up quickly. I do plan on being at the meeting on Monday - I LOVE our meetings!

Amber - I'm from Ireland - are there many PC consultants over there? Can you recruit internationally - just wondering??? :-)

Debi - my husband has spent a lot of time in Kaiserslautern. He is with the army reserve and his unit was based there while we were living in the UK ( 18 mths during 2003-2004). He trained there before he went to Afghanistan. He said it was beautiful and can't wait to bring us there someday.

I can't wait to hear about all the new products. I was lucky and had a big fundraiser in November which got me to level 3 - whooppeee!!!!

I can't believe that I am sitting here waiting for news. I promised the kids that I would take them to the store to pick out a dessert from the bakery to eat during the game tonight, and everytime they ask if we can go yet I tell them in a minute mom can't leave right now. I actually told them to go turn the tv on and watch something until I am ready to leave. How sad is that.

Lisa, you can't recruit internationally, but if I were to say get a recruit from America she could put my name and UK consultant number down as the referrer and I would get £65 PC. I'm pretty sure it works similarly in reverse if a US consultant were to refer a UK one, etc.

They really should keep some of these things in a choice (TTA, shears) ....but the cooks corer, and those small tools that have been redesigned will def be discontinued

I agree about the choices. It would be great to have some available.

I really like the squared look of our current SA, I am not sure if I am going to get into the round stuff...we'll see! (especially since I have every piece of the current white line) I am thinking that maybe the large round platter will maybe fit in the round woven selections? They would be smart if it does!!

And the prob with the round stuff is that it may not be able to stack like the squares? (one upside down as a pedastal (sp?) with the other on top, right side up)

this is what darby sent me yesterday, but nothing to verify that it is true:
*
March Hostess: Ultimate Slice and Grate $23.80 or Cutting Board with measuring cups $12
March Guests: Choice of 1 spice bottle with $60 purchase.

When will we find out if it is for sure? I just had a customer stop me at my son's school and ask for another catalog because she wants the cutting board with measuring cups and for that price I am sure that I can get her to have a show.

We were just discussing this at our cluster meeting on Saturday. I use the square platter but that is REALLY tough. That would be great if it fit in the round woven selection.

THANK YOU for your hard work getting this info. out!

I am SO excited about a trifle bowl, and even more excited that I already earned one for FREE for the 2 Dec. shows! My mother worked in the china dept. at Dillard's and bought me one a few years ago. I make trifles to take to a lot of events and everyone FLIPS over them and wants to know where I got the bowl. (Now I can't wait to SELL them one!) The lid will be just fantastic, as I usually fill them up to the top (usually with whipped cream, and then have to stick toothpicks in to keep the plastic wrap from sticking when I take them places! Yippe Skip! We will have a blast doing these as a demo for shows this spring. I hope they have enough of them so there aren't any stop sells!

Again, thanks Gillian and Ann and Nikki, and everyone else for sharing this info. Have a whole jar of pickles!!! Should we FED-EX you some?

jenniferknapp
01-08-2007, 09:28 PM
Wouldn't that be awesome if we could earn it for FREE! Do fundraisers count for this, I do not remember?

The trifle bowl is from the december 1-15 submit 2 shows thing...which is on the cover of the new catty, which we can "base a whole show around"

I was thinking that the towels would be the april guest special that we can get, but nevermind..because they are adding these to the line...and what we can earn in feb is supposedly not in the product line... (only available to april guests) ....hmm..back to the drawing board on the feb incentive!

To bad the steak knife set is only 4... DH would flip if I spent that much on 4 knives!!!

Unless we can get them for cheap (maybe kit enhancement month??) I will be waiting for an incentive on them hopefully.... which is what I did with the rest of the forged set!

If you look at the attachment at the bottom it has what they recipes are and it would be done in the trifle bowl, it sounds really yummy. Actually all the recipes do!! I am excited about trying them.

I am always seeing trifle recipes that I want to make then my MIL bought a bowl that has a lid and a carrying case (and a hot/cold pack) since we couldn't find a trifle bowl with a lid that I could transport everywhere. That will be so cool.

I still can't wait to see the pictures of all of these new things, and better yet to see them in person. It only took me an hour to catch up where I left off when I went to the store and cooked and ate dinner, WHEW, now it's time to take a shower and get to bed, gotta get up early for work in the morning.

Thanks ladies! I'm really hoping to get the steak knives on some promo. I received the santoku and chefs forged cutlery when I first signed up as a promo. Then I bought the utility knife as a 1/2 price host item because one of my hosts didn't want it. I would love to add those steak knives to my collection!

I started right after the new stuff came out in the fall so I am not familiar wit hthe change over product thing...do they include all of the new products? at 50% off?? are those the kits (some items are open stock) that you can purchase through CC under samples and supplies?? and then kit enhancement month is april, correct? and how does that work??

jrstephens
01-08-2007, 09:46 PM
the change over is in Samples for half off. They lump some of them together in different packages. And some products are individual in Open Stock. YOu can purchase one of each product but cannot duplicate. For Example: if it is in a package you cannot buy it if it is in Open Stock too if you buy the package.

Kit Enhancement is $500 worth of product at 40% off. I know you cannot get anything in your SS Kit and cannot order more than one of something. I am not sure about any other restrictions. I did not use kit enhcancement b/c I either hosted my own show or added it to host orders to be able to still get commission b/c when I figured it it even out like that. Yes it is April. Unless you SS is in April and then it is your 4th month.

Hope that helps.

I too had shows since I started to get products for myself through another's name...but now that it is tax time, I am realizing that I can't really use it to write off... but then again, I only made about 1000 in commission (and basically put it all back in to purchasing PC products) since I started, and I can still write off all of my business supplies and mileage....so maybe I should continue to do it in shows to get commission, knowing that I won't be able to write it off?

Awesome info! I just got home from a meeting and new I would find some great stuff here. Thanks for passing all of this stuff on!

I have to admit I'm not very familiar with the trifle bowl and not sure about basing a whole show around it. I guess I was hoping for something with a little more universal. You know, an item you would use everyday in your kitchen. To me this is more of an entertaining kind of piece. I guess I'll have to wait and see what the recipes are before I can get too excited about it.

It looks like some great new products and some wonderful recruiting specials. Wondering what is in it for the new recruits. I want to start making my calls now! Level 2 trip, what a prize!!!

I am a little surprised that the recruiting date doesn't start on 1/01/07 instead of 1/22!! I have a consultant that just recruited someone and I pushed this new recruit to go ahead and get started now instead of waiting!! I sure hope the new signing bonus for recruits will back date to 1/01! I feel bad for my consultant because I also told her that she would probably get some great rewards from the leadership announcements by her recruiting! Yikes!

Something was said about using dry erase markers on the SA plates.... while this works great, the writing rubs off very easily, with just the slightest brush up against it. Do you know works BETTER? Crayola Washable Markers!!!! Once it dries, it holds really well, until it gets wet. Try it, you'll never use dry erase on your plates again! lol

I have been thinking about that too, btu I looked back and it got just small stuff like that. I think if I get big stuff I would do it in my husband's name and at least then the receipt would be in a name on my taxes - I wonder if that would work.

I spent a lot on samples in change over, so, I am glad that it is my name.

I think I made about $3K in commission. I need to go back and ad dup my commission statements, I hate waiting on 1099s to know.

They usually do an incentive for us in April - at least that's the way I believe it's been for the last few years! I don't think it's been March? I got a Trifle Bowl years ago at Khols. This year I filled it with Christmas ornaments, so I am so excited to be getting a new and prettier one! I do the best trifle:
Layer
Broken up Brownies or Deviled Food Cake
Chocolate Pudding
Broken up Heath Bars
Cool Whip
repeat
end with Cool Whip which I pipe using the EAD
this is sooooo good!
Another Great recipe is Double CHOCOLATE Mocha Trifle

Every time I made this I sold out(used to use the stone for the brownie and the Chillzane for the Trifle) This will be soooooooo much Prettier.:)

Having the new trifle bowl will allow everyone to actually see the beautiful presentation! Some of my favorite pc trifle recipes are the Strawberry Patch Trifle, Cappaccino Mousse Trifle, Lemon and Blueberry and there is a great low-fat berry trifle made with yogurt. Hey. I just noticed the Easy Clean Kitchen Brush will be available in Artichoke (aren't there two in that picture, one white, one green?)!
That would be great...an easy way to highlight the greatest cleaning tool ever.

OMG, I have to get off this site. I have a show tonight and the host is using my house! So much to do! But I so don't want to stop reading!

Maybe I'll set my laptop up on my demo table. That way I can get the latest updates while doing my show!

G'Nite, Jennie...

I think I'm heading to bed, too.... have to get up and get the kids off to school, work at my "1st" job... then to my "2nd" job... then back to my "1st job" and I've got to make some calls to my host for this weekend and make sure she's getting her RSVPs (and maybe I'll be able to let the guests there in on some news, like to-be-discontinued products!)

I wonder what it is, if it is NOT added to the product line.

I am getting a headache (worse than I alreay had) tying to figure this out! I went to the doctor thia after thought I was having a magraine and I found out I have a sinus infection and fluid on my ears taht was giving my high blood pressure too!

Funny thing that whole "asking him for the money" idea. LOL. I am like, "You are going to LOVE what Pampered Chef came out with! STEAK KNIVES!" He was like, "Awesome! I want them!!!" Funny!

That is what I am wondering. Is it still gonna fit the totes? It will hold more weight now but is it going to actually be bigger or just sturdier?

I have that pink HWC measuring cup already! I won it a couple years ago in a cluster incentive...dont ask me how my upline director had it, but she did. Is that a product that is being reintroduced? Anyway, I love it - use it more that the 2 cup one and last May I took it to some shows even tho it was not available and I always had someone interested in it. I am so glad it will be available now!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the dots! The towels are so cute and I didnt think I'd want a round bowl - but I love it!

Is the NEW Tool Turn About design exactly like the one we have how?

Can it also come apart like the old one?

I know they said it hold 10lbs, how much more room will it take up on the counter top?

Cindycooks
01-09-2007, 07:53 AM
I cant wait the see the Tool Turn About! Teresa, I wondered that too - is it bigger? Will it still fit the tote bag? Or is it just stronger and sturdier so it holds more weight. I have a feeling it is bigger - that makes more sense....

whiteyteresa
01-09-2007, 08:04 AM
I forgot about the bag, what if it doesn't fit, will they have another one that we can buy to put it in.

When I was traveling in my car for my second show, my first was at my home, a car pulled out in front of me and all of the tools in my TTA few out of it and landed all over the back of my station wagon:eek: . I had the TTA in the display crate and when I got to the hostess house (which is a goooood family friend), she washed them while I sat my stuff up.:)

So I hope it fits or for a new one.

Most of the products that are in our current kit (ex corer etc) are going up in price so that could be some of the increase, not sure what if anything they will add to it. I might be kinda jealous!!

If it ends up being an incentive she does not really care about surely the price will not go up until the new season and maybe she can just go ahead and sign before it goes up if there is a problem.

I think that this will be good for those that are on the fence...maybe they will sign NOW for $90 and not wait around for the $150! BUT...I think $150 will prevent a lot of people from signing in the future. It sounds too expensive.

The "new" santuko remindes of the kitchenaid one that I saw at target.

I can't believe the steak knives only have a 3 year warranty! I was going to sell my tupperware ones to get the pc ones....but now that they are not lifetime I'm not so sure.

For the $150 I think that if someone really wants to sell they will pay it. Many other ds companies starter kits are at least $150 this could be why the upped it and added more as well. This way we stay competitive with the others. Yes our price was cheaper but we didn't have as many products. (I'm hoping more products are added to justify the increase)

Level 2 Trip is Carribean Cruise to Private Island and Nassau Area?? She was on her cell and I wasn't getting good reception!
Level 3 is a trip for 4 to Washington DC or a trip for 2 to London!!

Recruiting
More sad news! Looks like the kit is $155, not $150. There won't be superstarter products to earn each month but new consultants earn PC Dollars for products, supplies, etc. instead. Lots of changes but not a lot of specific details yet.

That is all I know right now because she had to run off to her class!

I just heard from my Director...

In a way it's nice that you can pick what you earn, but i liked working towards a goal that I could see...the products for example I really wanted the ssbowl set so I worked towards it. I wonder if they will also keep the bonus ones and just turn it into more money?

I'm not too excited about the trip for DC (since I live really close), but I told my husband I wanted to earn a trip this year, and the cruise or London sounds good to me!

I am anxious to hear more about recruiting and such, because I want to promote to director this year too! I am going to get on the phone as soon as I hear all the details! I think people would want to sign before the kit price almost doubles!

I hear you too! I am on my 5th month, and I feel burned out too - all of the excitement and close friends already had parties...and the bookings were going well at the start, but have slowed down...and I don't want to be an annoying person who starts begging for bookings! I have 1-2 shows in the next month or so, and I am hoping to get some bookings from those....I will stay in it as long as I can, and hope that it picks itself back up, but for me, I already have my FT job plus another side business, so I can't spend all of my time on PC....we'll see! But good luck, and if you want to chat anytime since we are in the same boat, my email is jennifer (a) jlknapp (dot) com... (a) = @<hidden email>, (dot) = .

the only prob is that if they sign now, they would be paying for a kit that has a bunch of products that are going to be redesigned, and they may feel like you actually cheated them when they go to do their first show and a guest asks why they don't have one of the new cooks corers...

More specifics on teh SS kit...it will have $400+ in products, it will have pre-assembled host kits, it will have the Ult Mand, the Microplane, the Silicone Basting Brush, mini muffin pan. one forged knife, lg bar pan, 8" skillet, something from the SA line and a tote that is similar to the STG stuff.

Wow...ok maybe they do need to wait until the new one - it is worth it!!

The new SS kit does sound nice... I guess they will have a choice to make. I am getting more and more excited about recruiting - if the rumors are true, I really need a show to go, and the $100 in PC dollars would really help keep my profit in my pocket!

BTW, has anyone figured out what the "exclusive April Guest Special" is? Not like I need any extra motivation to get my first $500 February show, but I hate waiting!

So I just realized that there wasn't any new silicone bakeware announced!! I am very surprised with that..

I'm not surprised.....The floral cupcake pan is a very specific piece of equipment, and silicone was the best way to do it well. For almost everything else you may bake, silicone is inferior in quality, and I can't see PC bringing out a whole line of silicone to compete with stoneware/cookware. I read alot of reviews for kitchenware (consumers report, Cook's Illustrated) and I've never seen silicone bakeware get a good review. There may be good reviews out there, but I've never seen them!;)

Now I do remember something about the microfiber towels being the guest special. I don't have any of those yet, so that would be good.

I think it's about time they put the Simple Additions as a host/guest special though. They are so beautiful, but people are scared off by their price! I know the caddy will be there for HWC, so I guess that's a start. I have sold multiple caddies, and I love pink!

So I just realized that there wasn't any new silicone bakeware announced!! I am very surprised with that..

One thing I've noticed in the last 7 1/2 years is that a lot of times we see more bakeware/stoneware/entertaining in the fall/winter and more cookware/kitchenware/outdoor entertaining in the spring. Of course it's for obvious reasons, we bake in the fall/winter along with the major holiday entertaining, and we cook, entertain outdoors, and do more with cooking accessories in the spring/summer! So maybe, we will see more of the silicone bakeware this next fall. Just my thoughts, but it seems reasonable to me and it's the very first thing I thought of when I read your post! Also, if you'd like to see more silicone bakeware, then send them your thoughts and suggestions. I think it is so obvious that this awesome company listens to us! Gosh I love Pampered Chef!:D

Here is the info from Ann-
The new super starter kit includes the UM and lots of new products ($155)
comes with premade hostess packets
The new super starter program has "pick your own products" with $100 in PC dollars earned instead of product packagesAll agreements submitted 1/22 and beyond qualify

Once you pay shipping and tax for these products with the PC Dollars, you don't really have $100! I think it might be harder to get the new consultants motivated to earn the bonuses compared to what they have now.

And the product value you earned in the old SS was more than $100 with no tax and shipping to be paid until the 1099 comes in. They were around $150 or more each bonus.

This is reducing what they get and having them pay more!

I think it would be nice to have a "Basic" kit (at the $90 price) and a "Deluxe" kit for you to choose from. I think that's what they have in Canada, and maybe Great Britain too??? Alot of DS companies have more than one kit to choose from - that would be nice for us too! It would help too for those recruits who are PC lovers and already have most of what is in the kit we have now!

Send this to PC!!!!

That is absolute a great idea. I know some of my friends in Maine that I talked to about coming aboard will not be able to afford the $155.00 now even with all the benefits. The $90.00 just SOUNDS more appealing to the people that are low on money and looking for a way for this to be the way they start their own business. $155.00 could be almost a whole pay check for some when they get started and that is just not feasible. 2 kits would be great. I think that $155 is a bit high but if you think to all of the NEW products that they are adding I think it is great! Plus if you compare to some DS companies we are still cheaper. I know for a fact that Premier Designs Jewelry is over $1500.00!!!!!!! If someone truly wants to go into business for themselves then $155 is still very reasonable!

jrstephens

They will still have the $100 PC Dollars added into the income on the 1099 just like the $150 value was added in before, so that will make this even less appealing!

I know, I would have never hosted a show first. I was a home body. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I wanted my kit all to myself, read everything myself, think about everything myself. Pushing people to host a show in order to start a business is taking away the "choice" and "at your own pace" attitude which is sooo great about PC!!

I don't mean pushing ... I just mean...some people love making the decision on their own. I know kit napping is always an issue.....so hosting a show would be better....but I just feel bad for the people who want to do this and are overcoming fears or some other issues...

01-09-2007, 06:38 PM
I look at it this way, If you are thinking about going into the business then why not host a show and get a discount on the kit? That host doesn't do anything different than any other host. They still can read their kit in private at their own pace when it comes in. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by having to overcome fears...When I have a host who is contemplating the opportunity I just tell her to keep the fact that she can apply some FPV toward the kit in mind, I don't say anything else about it until after the show. That is a non-pushy way to do it. (sorry for stealing the thread!)

We do not know all the details concerning the use of PC bucks for SS incentives. There may not be tax and shipping charged, or it may be a flat rate. The company may provide a discount on the items a SS purchases with their PC bucks. There are a lot of details not released yet.

A lot of DS companies have starter kits around this amount, or they look lower but you have to jump through hoops to not pay more... I think 155 will weed out the people that aren't serious- plus you will be getting was it 4 or 500 worth of product/ supplies for that amount. The premade host packets themselves save you on ink/time when you are starting. We need to be enthusiastic about the new kit and not dweal on the old. I easily spent more than 60 on ordering the products that will now be included in this kit. Plus, I really don't like the crate...
Plus it would be difficult to break up the paper work into a cheaper kit so essentially you would be getting less product to start with... therefore you would end up spending more to get the other products. Not everyone is going to be happy, but then again we aren't in charge of the company and don't see how many kit snatchers are out there and I bet this is a big reason too.

So, I just thought about something,
I have all the oppertunity brouchures and they say $90.00. So if it starts on Jan 22nd, this is before the change over, we have to get all new paperwork on that issue along with the back of the catalog, shows something other than what they will get.
I don't think they thought this out well enough.
Maybe they should be starting it after March 1st to avoid hassles.

I've heard that the new kit has some really great items in it. So far I've heard it has the Ultimate Mandoline, a piece of cookware, some SA, the Bar Pan, and other great products. I think that we need to quit focusing on the $155 price tag and wait and see what comes in the kit. I think we will all be pleasantly surprised. I also like the fact that SS rewards will be PC$, that way SS can choose what they want to enhance their kit with.

Also, I think that if someone chooses to go with another DS just because the kit price increased by $65 then they weren't seriously considering PC in the first place.

jenniferknapp
01-09-2007, 07:30 PM
Linda, Very well put! I think that all of the items will be of use to a starter, and I like the PC $$ as well, there were some months I slacked, or held a show until the next month, etc. because I already had 9/10 of a months bonus or the plus bonus.... PC $$ can get them what they want!!

I know you probably weren't meaning it this way, but I am a serious consultant (alomst a director in 6 months) and being a stay a home mom, I wouldn't have been able to afford the extra $65 so I would have gone with a direct sales company that had a less expensive starter kit. I did end up buying or earning the other products that are in the new kit, but when the money was there at my own pace. So I just wanted to say that just because they won't pay the extra doesn't mean they are not serious-it could just be they can't afford the extra money-hence the choices. I think like the idea of the new kit (especially the host packets), i just think the option of 2 different prices would be nice. Like you said though we aren't working at HO and there is probably a reason for this.

Yes Linda..very well put. I do know I have spent well beyond $55.00 getting myself started anyway....with some products...so if they are going to get me new people started with more products and hostess packs, it is up to us to talk up PC. I think it is just the sound of 155 from 90 that does sound so much more drastic. $90 did just look so much better on pamphlets and brochures...but what are you gona do???

I also agree with this...I do know the cost of living in some states is much diffferent. My friends in Maine I know for sure will not start now. $155 just will not work for them at one time. They will have to save up the money. It's a lot different up there, than in Florida. They are serious...but like I stated before..for some... single mom's or people living pay check to paycheck, $155 may take a large chunk. :(

Oh Really....LOL How weird. I am from Lisbon Falls. I live in Florida now, and I have quite a few friends that were interested. Single Moms and stuff..and for that amount..they just won't be able to do it right now. Very interested....very serious...but too hard with out trying to put away $20.00 a week or something. It's just different in some states. Rates of pay change. As I said, for some reason, $90.00 just sounds like something people CAN do.

I suspect that sitting down and seeing how much they need to sell in order to raise the money (after their kit credit) to cover this might help. Seriously sit down and figure out what they'd need to do in sales. If they were to manage $1250 in their first qualifying month they'd bring in commissions of $187. So if they bought nothing and just used what is in their starter kit they could earn back their outlay with 4 solid shows. You could check with HO & see if there is any problem with you running thier first few shows through your PWS to help their sales that month - you'd need to forward them all information on their show sales but the extra aggravation if it gets you even 2 solid recruits is probably worth it.

I'm just trying to think of ways to show that it really is not that big an outlay if you stick with the basics & wait until month 2 and 2nd commissions to order business cards and the website. All of the season's bests come with 2 recipes in each category that are based on what is in the SS kit. I managed to keep my expenses to under $50 my 1st month.

I'm not saying the difference is not a lot of money, it is. But it does not take long if one sets up solid shows/orders before starting it may be doable. I also thought I could charge my kit which also gives one a month to play with if they sign up just after the new billing cycle.

We do not know all the details concerning the use of PC bucks for SS incentives. There may not be tax and shipping charged, or it may be a flat rate. The company may provide a discount on the items a SS purchases with their PC bucks. There are a lot of details not released yet.

I was actually told that these are the same Pampered Chef Dollars that we earn now and that they can be applied to supplies or products. When you use PC Dollars, you do pay shipping and tax.

I didn't mean that to sound bad, sorry. And I am not saying everyone has the extra money just floating around, but I know many people that are like, oh I was going to spend around $90 so I can get the kit and never do anything... Not good for us! Also it sounds like it is going to be really nice. And if you look at other DS companies (I do this all the time) The start up is low, but you have to submitt a ton of orders to qualify and sometimes if you don't get to that number you have to pay extra on your kit!!! Yikes!
If someone really wants to do well then they will work hard and make back the money, or so I hope. Like PP said, if they can't afford it get the signed up before the cut off date, or if you are able and really good friends (you trust them) pay the extra and let them pay you back. But I do think we shouldn't mention the price increase after they don't have the option b/c it will probably hurt us.

Debrachef

Also, I think that if someone chooses to go with another DS just because the kit price increased by $65 then they weren't seriously considering PC in the first place.

I agree. In the 6 years I have been with the company, I can honestly say that whenever the company has made any changes, it's always for the best. I am always pleasantly surprised at how great the company takes care of us consultants compared to other DS companies. I don't think this price increase for the kit will scare too many potential recruits off. If anything, this may just discourage those "kit-nappers!"

Cindy Landon
01-09-2007, 09:33 PM
...and don't forget that there is the kit credit hostesses can get when they host a show. The $40 kit credit will reduce it from $155 to $115. This is much more appealing and puts it back down in the range of the original Super Starter Kit, plus they have the new product and won't have to pay for them later. All in all, it sounds like my recruits would be better off waiting for the new kit.

The new starter kit will only sound expensive if WE make it sound expensive. It sounds to me like there are over $400 in products and that the paperwork is all very useful (premade host packets etc.). I am hoping it includes some of the products I think all consultants need to start their business:Large grooved cb, UM, can opener and a piece of cookware. Southern Living at Home is $199 to startup. They have to purchase all their paperwork and supplies - no catalogs for instance are sent at the beginning of each selling season. My friend sells SLAH. She could not believe that we get 25 catalogs in our paperwork changeover kit.

This is what it states in the Weekly Bites that was emailed to me:

We want to advise you of some shipping and handling charge changes for the spring/summer 2007 season. These changes are being implemented to account for increased costs the shipping industry has experienced over time.

Guests in Alaska and Hawaii will be charged 15% shipping and handling, plus $2. This update applies to Cooking Shows.

Direct Shipping for Online Orders:

A level has been added for orders totaling $130 and over. The base rate will be 11%.
Customers in Alaska and Hawaii will need to add $5 to all base shipping rates.

2-Day Air charges have increased by $5, so the new charge for 2-Day Air will be $15. That charge will be in addition to the base rate, which varies based on order value.

Next Day charges have increased by $1, so the new charge for Next Day will be $20. That charge will be in addition to the base rate, which varies based on order value.

Ooohhh...they better not. I get complaints just about $4.00. Can you imagine if it goes up from there??

I say that shipping should be free with a $75.00 order and if the shipping cost goes up, charge arounnd $6.00 BUT DONT charge a TAX on the shipping. That to me is stupid. HEAR ME CALIFORNIA??? STUPID!

Maybe I read this wrong, but I took it to mean that the only changes were for those in AK and HI, and then for online orders. I think it says that orders from shows stays at $4. (Or am I wearing rose colored glasses?)

I agree that charging tax on shipping stinks. That's the way that KS does it too and lots of customers complain.

I think that this will be good for those that are on the fence...maybe they will sign NOW for $90 and not wait around for the $150! BUT...I think $150 will prevent a lot of people from signing in the future. It sounds too expensive.

I have people on the fence now too, $ 90.00 is very expensive for them, down here in the Valley the pay for most isn't very good, so it's really difficult to get them to sign! :(

I"m just now catching up on Day 2, but I saw/heard new starter kits are more expensive $ 155.00 with less products?? Although the paper work, has more outlined types of material or condensed so that new consultants don't get overwhelmed and confused. I"m still not happy about the increase :(

I'm not real happy about the increase either, but I agree with what you're saying too. It seems as though there were a lot of kit napper's too.

Liz

ps: This is probably another reason why HO/PC or upline or however I should word it, doesn't like us speculating or finding out info prior to meetings!!!

I soooo wanted the new starter kit. I've even tried to purchased PC $$ on supply orders and couldn't. I asked my Director if only Dirctors could and she didn't know as she doesn't offer them as incentives for us :(

Quick question for those of you who've been in the business awhile: when was the last time Pampered Chef increased their shipping rates?

Gasoline prices jumped way up!! so when trucks are full of pkgs, that will cause them to need more gasoline to haul the pkgs.

I had wished like others that shipping/handling could be incorporated into the price of the item. I didn't think 4.00 flat rate was bad at all, but down here everyone complains and on top of that TX charges tax on s/h and I really hear about that as well :(

We really can't get around the taxes. Sometimes in order to keep customers I pay the s/h, but many times for those customers I combine orders too. sometimes the orders combined = 60.00+ but since they didnt' want to pay the s/h they don't get the gift with the 60.00+ either.

Maybe I'll have my first Bingo down here after all. They usually go extremely well.

Good Luck to All.

I usually send all new consultants a couple of Cooking Show packets and Catalog show packets before their kit gets to them so that they can start handing them out. It takes way too long for new consultants to get their kit, so premade host packets IN the kits are not going to help my consultants nor is it going to reduce my cost. As for the kitnappers...they will be around whether the kits are $90 or $200! Every direct sales company has their kitnappers.

Probably because they had a contract with UPS - and it was probably ready to expire - needed to either renegotiate a contract with them, or find a new shipping co.
From the email we just received from HO - it appears that shipping will remain the same, w/ the exception of HI & AK, and some direct shipping charges

First, I'm LOVING all of the scoops that I'm reading on here!!! Thanks for all of that. Secondly, I am disappointed in the increase of the SS kit price, extra incentives etc., but I am going to wait and see the FULL extent of info before getting too upset. If there really is all of the high-end items in there that I've seen noted, then the price is justified. Plus, those items were ones that you could earn in the bonus packages, and now you'll have gotten it from the get-go and you could buy the cheaper must-haves with the PC bucks. I would guess that there would still be the "booster" paperwork order available, but we'll have to see on that as well. Right now I'm trying to wait and find out ALL of the info before making my own judgements!!!! But to be honest, right off the bat, I'm not happy simply because when I joined PC 3 years ago, I was able to earn 3 of the bonus packages, and then 3 more of the bonus-bonus packages in my first 3 months! I was on cloud 11 with that!!!!!!! We'll just have to wait and see!

The new products should be posted on CC by the end of the week so you could just look at them then.

A Black turn about I am soooo excited, that way it won't look dirty all the time.

A trifle bowl and for our Dec shows. I have always wanted one of those and I can't wait.

I agree with you! And, some people would rather be able to pick what they want rather than just be sent products. Maybe it will be better.

Has anyone mentioned that if new consultants "bank" their accumulated PC Dollars that they earn instead of the product packages, that they can use them in their fourth month for "Kit Enhancement" and pay only 40%? Those PC dollars will go a long way in getting them the products that they want without paying out of pocket!

Just a "positive" thought!

[QUOTE=chefjenibel]Level 2 appears to be everything EXCEPT:
Coffee & More Cups
Large Round Bowl
Large Round Platter
Executive 12 qt stockpot
Garlic Infused Olive Oil
Disposable Wooden Grill Planks
Forged Steak Knives
Trifle Bowl (this IS the item for submitting two December shows)
Mid season products
HWC products

Not today--and, at the risk of "losing my religion" on this one--he's lucky I didn't put FAH. Again, sorry--I was just so excited about the trip to DC. I am brand new and AM going to promote by December, with the help of my totally amazing Director. Last week FAH and I talked about how great DC would be for our kids when they are 7 & 8 (they are 5 & 6 now). And then, this comes along. They will be 7 & 8 next year! I just thought it was cool, but he said, "I just don't want this house to fall by the wayside while you're doing this." Can you tell I have some house-cleaning issues? I totally get where he was coming from, I just would have liked a little boost before he shot me down.

Hi Danielle,
Mine did at first to. Until he started seeing the commission checks rolling in then it was better. He still has a hard time of it and thinks I should quit PC and pick up an extra day at my nursing job. Thing is he doesn't get it. PC makes me a different person. Very happy and excited. Not like nursing which I have been doing for the last 22 years and am BURNT out!!

Now that I am into it, have an established business, I can not see letting it go. I wont!

So thats my schpeel, just vent all you want here were here for ya!

OMG!!! You all are so funny (dannysmom and DanielleQ!)
I wish I would have found this board 7 years ago, was it even in existence?
Danielle, hang in there! I overcame some serious issues with my hubby in the last 7 1/2 years. He was soooo non supportive! ughhhh! ! I would often cry, but hold tight to your director, you'll get all the love and support you need from her and your fellow cluster members!
The harder my husband was on me, the harder I tried! I remember walking out the door (on my way to my shows) with tears in my eyes, well should I say, bawling like a baby! - while he was complaining about the house being a mess and what did I do all day? Yikes! He's lucky he's still here! J/K! We have been together a really long time and there was a lot more to it then what meets the eye, I believe he was jealous of me staying home and loving my job so much and being with the kids all day, while he worked really hard and long hours, sometimes being away for all week and barely being home!
Anyway, in the last year and half, he re-dedicated his life to Jesus and with the help of our amazing pastor and mentor, has become the man he needs to be. He sometimes slips still and starts to ride me,(I'm still not a great homemaker! Not a slob- but I like piles and clutter!!) but he now is in touch with my feelings and will say he's sorry and I respond by forgiving him and respecting him for trying to change and we are closer than we have ever been in our 17 years together!
Anyway, I told you all this because it is possible to receive his respect and support, hang in there. Also the fact that my husband returned to church is as amazing as him supporting me! So my way to encourage you, is to stay close to your director and if you go to church, press into them and draw strength and love from them. If you don't then press into a postive friend, or group you belong to. My church prayed for my hubby and it worked!

One more thing, work on earning those incentives!!!! Many men (hubbies) grow much respect and support you much more after attending one of these trips!!!! I haven't taken my hubby on a trip BUT I have always chose the gift certificate option, it's great when it's to a store that you can get benefits as well as him, like home depot - lots of home improvement stuff and best buy - bought him some video game stuff and me a new vaccuum! Let me tell you, they start changing slowly when they realize that their company never did that for them, but yours did!:D

Anyway, Good luck to you! Sorry this was long, but my heart ached for you as I read this and just wanted to show you that there can be light and the end of the tunnel! God Bless and I'll be over here cheering you on!
Cathy

Has anyone mentioned that if new consultants "bank" their accumulated PC Dollars that they earn instead of the product packages, that they can use them in their fourth month for "Kit Enhancement" and pay only 40%? Those PC dollars will go a long way in getting them the products that they want without paying out of pocket!

Just a "positive" thought!

I love that idea. In addition, they can use those dollars to buy what I consider basics - door prizes and paperwork as well as towards the samples for new products. Personally I think the $$ are better than the SS bonuses I did not earn. I'm still awaiting more information as I have tons of questions but figure the new SS pamplet should be online in the next couple of weeks.

I have a question about the recruits. Is that how many people you have to recruit that year?
It is how many you need to QUALIFY...at least that is the way it has been in the past.

Oh!! Ann never called!! I was gone this morning, but checked my Caller ID when I got home...

I was too busy trying to get lunch and get to the airport. Sorry. :(

It looks like there have been a lot of discussions about things. Cool! Some of the details aren't completely out yet on things (like real specifics about the new consultant rewards program), but all that will be in changeover boxes and new, updated policies and procedures. The policies will be online, so anyone who ever wished that the Recipe for Success was electronic will be getting their wish.

I'm still feeling overwhelmed about everything they threw at us.

I think it's great because so many consultants host first (some several times) so they have a lot of the products already. This way, they can pick out things that they need to fill in the gaps in their collection. And can use the PC$ for Conference!!

there will be some sort of info coming.... check your email frequently.

For all of those who haven't seen the pics of the new products yet, they are now on CC (under Kitchen Consultant News). Can't wait to get all my new products. I earned level 3 for the first time ever and I feel like I won the lottery. Lots of great info in that issue.

Oh, I know how you feel! I earned level 2 and I'm in seventh heaven! Funny thing about earning rewards from PC......once you earn something you are addicted and can't stand it when you earn less! So, next go around I HAVE to get level 3!

Ok, seeing how the new kit program begins 1/22, does anyone know when the updated paperwork will be made available to us to promote this new program? I prefer not to continue passing out opportunity brochures that aren't going to mean much in a matter of weeks, KWIM! However I really want to continue to share the opportunity and recruit!

Me too! 2 yrs ago, for the Fall/Winter product sellathon, I had a baby that month (June) and ended up not earning ANYTHING! I vowed then that I would never miss out on free product again - and I haven't! I have made level 2 the last 3-4 times (can't remember now) and am always shooting for that top level! OF course, my big goal is to make director, so I never miss out on anything, and also can get doubles!:D :D :D I am totally addicted!

Yep! I got really P.O.'d  this past summer with the cluster challenge (sorry for bringing that one up again!) and I vowed right then and there that I would earn everything I could from there on out!

Me too....in big bold letters!

We have monthly challenges in our cluster for a gift for the person who sells the most of the PWP free item from the past month....I've won all of them since we started a few months ago:p . We also have an on-time drawing....and the only one of those that I won was when I was the only consultant there  (directors aren't eligible). I won by default....but I won! I LOVE FREE!!!!

We do an on-time drawing as well but we do it for catalogs. Everyone brings an unlabeled catalog and the winner takes home all the catalogs. I love when I win that one.

STILL gets to me when I think about it - (try not to!) Working so hard, and then being punished for it......grrr - okay - ENOUGH on that - I will earn everything I am physically able to! This year that includes a Cruise too!
