Why Are My August Shows Dropping Like Flies?

In summary, this person had three cancelations in two days, one due to renovations, one due to "family chaos," and one due to low response rates. They are still hoping to salvage a September show from the third.

I'm sorry to whine, but I have had 3 August cancels or postpones in 2 days! One is due to her kitchen not being ready (renovated), one due to "family chaos" and one due to too few responses. Two will likely reschedule in October, and I may be able to salvage a September catty from the third.

I was thrilled at NC when they announced the show to go promotion - I was fat and happy with 8 shows. Now I'm down to 4 and one is an open house with another DS person.

Again, sorry to whine

That's a bummer!
I don't even have any shows booked, so at least you're a step ahead of me! :)

Can you talk up the booking off of yourself benefit by turning the August shows into Catty shows and then holding a cooking show in September or October. Then they can get the knives in August AND the cookware or whichever... That's helped me sometimes ...

Susan - What I've done for the hosts that turn me down for issues in their home. I offer them mine. Then I don't have to go anywhere and I kept the show on my books.

thanks for the great ideas tristen and kathie!

My best friend was supposed to have a July show for me, then didn't do any of the things she said she would (reminders etc). It just annoyed me SO much because I would totally have done it for her but ooooh no... And guess what, no one was going to show up, so she turned it into a catty show - then no one ordered. Awesome.

Now I don't get my bonus $100 in PC dollars. :( I was so sure I would get it too because my boyfriend's mother was having a catty show (which I guess she just up and decided to give up on after a couple people said they didn't want anything.)

Fortunately I am salvaging my show with supposed best friend in August right before her wedding as part of her bachelorette. All her bridesmaids are older mormon moms who aren't into the casino/drinking thing, so I thought I'd have a low key party, maybe make a wedding Barbie cake with my batter bowl. Then they can shop, chat, play board games, and someone is coming in to do nails. Sorry to vent so much, sometimes I just feel like I'm the one trying too hard in the friendship while she only thinks of herself...

i'm sorry your friend is pooping out on you. hopefully when you turn the show into a wedding-related party, the results will be better.

i appreciate that we can vent here. i frees me up to have a positive attitude in person, and i know i'm not alone or doing something wrong.

I had a "friendship" where when I went to close her show she pretended she wasn't home. I drove over 45 min to get to her house, lights on, both cars in the driveway and yet no one answered the door. I sat in her driveway for over 15 min, left 5 vm from the driveway and on the last one (ever, btw) I told her that I would place the order for her and pick the items out and deliver everyone's stuff when it came, but she needed to understand this isn't a hobby for me it is my business and if she can't respect me enough to answer her door then I am sorry to have wasted my time. And occassionally she calls me w/ "Hey Chris, I ran into someone today that is interested in PC, call me and I will give them your info", after the 5th msg,I emailed her w/ some other consultants info that is closer to her and that was the end of it.

I am sorry you have to go through this. It can be tough when you are the "giver" and then never get to receive.

Wow, I love the business, but not sure I'd be willing to lose a friendship over it.:(

Chris, I'm sure there were other issues involved in your decision to end the friendship, not just the show.

Jill, alot of brides are selfish, especially as the wedding date approaches (have you ever seen Bridezilla??). I hope her attitude will change after the wedding, and once things in her life calm down.

Susan, if you could have the Cooking Show at your house, that would be great. Otherwise, you could use the 'not yet renovated kitchen' to prove a show can be done anywhere!! (And, of all people, I'm sure YOU could pull this off!)
