That's right. The .mdb file is a backup from PP, not P3. When it asks for it during initial install, it's looking to import a PP file. Just skip that and let it finish. Then restore from your current backup.
(I'll send you a PM with this info, Debi, so you don't panic too long about it.)

are You Trying To Open The P3 File From The Backuped File? What You Need To Do Is Open P3 On Your Mac And At The Top, The Far Right Item Is The Restore Icon. This Will Allow You To Open The Backuped File.

Thank You!

I'm still a little giddy about this. :) And I had the cutest note from another Mac user, who said, "The heavens opened and angels sang. I don't have to run Windows on my MacBook any more!"I think I might actually start using the task list, now that it's faster to get into the program. Because I think it's asking a little much right away to ask for P3 to sync with iCal. (Although that would be nice, because that syncs to my phone.)

I WISH I could delete Windows. I'm the membership chairperson for our local Lincoln club, and the software we have is Windows only. ===We should all send a thank you note to Tech Support, so they know that the Mac version is truly appreciated.

We should all send a thank you note to Tech Support, so they know that the Mac version is truly appreciated.

I agree, I'll have to do that tonight!

We have SUCCESS!! I just finished restoring my backup into my new Mac-version. I'll admit, I was thrown by the import step....kept telling me it wasn't the correct version. Then I saw the small print about "If you don't have Pampered Partner installed, skip this step...". After that, I figured it out.I'm thinking they haven't quite expected folks to find it yet- since they have no instructions on what to do. But I figured it out anyway.WOOOHOOO!! :sing:

It's because Mac users are so smart.

Good looking, too. :)

I entered my first show in Mac today! Oh yea!

Yeah! I just now was able to finally make the switch! :) :)

Now that I have P3 up and running, do I just get rid of the Pampered Partner Plus icon on my desktop that is a download results thing? KWIM?

Yep. Just drag it to the trash. (I keep the files, though, on a system backup. Just in case I ever need them again.)

Woohoo! I just submitted my first show through it! I love how I can use the number pad on the keyboard, instead of only using the numbers at the top when I was on Parallels. :)

I am just now reading this thread... yeah!!! Too bad I already purchased Windows and Parallels :( Oh well - this is super exciting!!! Note to self - read the weekly bytes when they come ;)

I don't think it was there!!

Nope- there's been nothing announced about it, we just saw it on the download page.

Okay, so here's the question...I was using P3 on our Windows laptop. Now I'm downloading P3 for Mac on my MacBook. is there any way to get my info from the Windows laptop over to my MacBook?

Yes. Do a backup from the Windows version, and save it on a removeable device (flash drive, etc.). Install P3 on your MacBook - skip the import step during install. Once it's installed and running, attach the device to the MacBook and do a "restore from backup" in P3, navigating to the backup that's on the device. It's easier than it sounds.

Sweet! Thank you :)

W00T!!!! I am soooo happy! Mine has just been installed :-)) Wahoo!

Okay, now if we can get P3 (period) in Canada, I would be happy! And, if we get it for Macs....oh boy, I will definitely be investing in a MacBook!!!! :D

I had an order come through my PWS for tomorrow's show, and it was SOOOOO nice not to have to start up Parallels to pull it in to P3.

Hi Mac users,

I am thinking about getting a new computer, and I was wondering if you could tell me what are the advantages to the Mac versus the PC? I have one grandson telling me to get a Mac mini and another one telling me not to get a mac. I just got a nasty virus on my PC and would like to know if it is true that you don't get viruses on the Mac. Any info you could tell me would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

Dianne

Well... I've been having my Mac for 2 years now and its still working great! NEVER had a virus or anything (i don't have any kind of virus protection either)... still pretty fast too.

The virus thing is because a majority of the viruses are programmed for PC's not Mac's. I personally thing they are easier to use and don't have as many problems as PC's.

I love my Mac... my husband has a mac book and then we have a mac as our desktop too. The desktop takes up very little room because the whole computer is the monitor... that's all. Just attach your keyboard and mouse and that's it. I still have a PC laptop and get so mad sometimes because it's really slow and takes forever to turn on... with my mac and my husbands macbook their quick and you never have to worry about stuff not working. I love how easy it is to use too. It took a little getting used to little things, but I LOVE IT!!!! I plan on getting a Macbook Air for my PC use. It's really light weight and would be great to bring to shows. Now that P3 is available for Macs there's no need to have a PC anymore.Hope this helps.

I've had my MAC for a year and LOVE IT!!! I will NEVER go back to anything else. It's as fast as the first day I bought it. I love all the programs it comes with and it's easy as heck to use... Oh, and no virus either and I don't have any virus protection on it. It's just not necessary on a MAC. Make the switch and you will never go back. Time to download the P3 for my MAC! YAY!!!

Well, by asking in this thread, you're going to get responses from all the people who think you should get a Mac. As much as we gush about their ease of use, etc., there are a couple of drawbacks. They're not major, unless they relate to your interests. There aren't as many current hard-core games available for Macs as PCs. And some web sites that use WMV format movies won't work on a Mac (supposedly there are converters to convert .wmv movies to QuickTime format, but I haven't been successful in getting them to work). They do come with all the software you'll need for day to day tasks, and other software is available free on the web for the rest of it (Open Office is an open source equivalent to Office, and can be downloaded free at openoffice.org). I've been using Macs since college (1990! & bought my first one in 1997) and am very happy with them.
