I have a guest who attended one of my shows (potential consultant too), who had the Lap Band Procedure (for weight control) this week. I'm wondering what great recipes youall (yes, I'm from Texas) you folks have that are Light and Luscious???? Also, suggestions for re-training the mind to eat smaller meals (I'm recommending the Small Squares -- smaller plate; less food to eat). Thanks.

wow, that is different... can't they only consume tiny amounts.. less than half a cup?? I think the prep bowls would be handy for measuring the amounts and serving. Colorful SA bowls or the Entertaining Set?? Using the cut and seal would cut down on portion size for a sandwich....

The plates are a wonderful idea. And definitely prep bowls. Also the measure all and the food chopper. The food chopper so she can cut fresh vegies and lean meats smaller and make it look like she is eating more. As far as recipes I am not real familiar with how the Lap band procedure works so I personally would not feel comfortable recommending any recipes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of recipes are recommended after a lap band procedure?

After a lap band procedure, it's important to focus on recipes that are high in protein and low in sugar and fat. Soft foods such as pureed fruits, yogurt, cottage cheese, and soups are often recommended in the initial recovery phase. As you progress, you can incorporate lean meats, vegetables, and whole grains into your meals.

How can I ensure my recipes are low in calories post-lap band?

To keep your recipes low in calories, focus on using fresh, whole ingredients and avoid processed foods. Opt for cooking methods like steaming, grilling, or baking instead of frying. Additionally, using herbs and spices for flavor can help reduce the need for high-calorie sauces and dressings.

Are there specific cooking techniques that are better for post-lap band recipes?

Yes, gentle cooking techniques are preferred after a lap band procedure. Steaming, poaching, and slow cooking can help retain nutrients while making food easier to digest. Avoid heavy frying or cooking methods that may add unnecessary fats and calories.

Absolutely! Pampered Chef offers a variety of kitchen tools that can help you prepare healthy meals efficiently. Tools like the food chopper, steamers, and measuring cups can assist in portion control and make it easier to prepare nutritious meals that align with your dietary needs.

How can I incorporate vegetables into my post-lap band recipes?

Incorporating vegetables can be done by pureeing them into soups or smoothies, which can make them easier to consume. You can also steam or roast vegetables until they are soft and easy to chew. Gradually introduce a variety of vegetables to ensure you get a range of nutrients while keeping portion sizes small.
