First... I want to share my excitement because I have my first fundraiser starting soon!!! I'm hopeful it will be a success for this agency!

Anyway, I have a question about advertising. The chairperson would like to put an advertisement in the local free newspaper to advertise the fundraiser for her agency. Is this ok?? She would like to inform the community of the fundraiser and have her as a contact to place orders (and maybe myself) and also put my website in the advertisement.

I certainly don't want to do something I'm not supposed to!! I told her I'm looking into this before she does it.

Let me know PLEASE!!!

I've never done it before, but I know you can get permission from HO to have your website linked for fundraisers. Contact HO for information on how to do it...you have to have WRITTEN permission from HO before it happens, so do it fast!

You can do a print advertisement, but you do have to have HO's permission to let them put it on a website.

Read the Policies and Procedures behind CC. If you still have questions, you can call the HO.

I am not clear on the guidelines myself, but at least wanted to point you towards the correct information.

Good luck!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of advertising my fundraiser in a local free newspaper?

Advertising in a local free newspaper can significantly increase visibility for your fundraiser. It reaches a broad audience within your community, helping to attract potential supporters who may not be aware of your event. Additionally, it adds credibility to your fundraiser, as being featured in a newspaper can enhance trust and encourage participation.

How do I create an effective advertisement for my fundraiser?

An effective advertisement should be clear, concise, and engaging. Start with a catchy headline that grabs attention, followed by essential details such as the date, time, location, and purpose of the fundraiser. Include a call to action, encouraging readers to participate or support the cause. Visual elements, like images or logos, can also help make your ad more appealing.

What information should I include in my advertisement?

Your advertisement should include the name of the fundraiser, the organization or cause it supports, the date and time of the event, the location, and any specific details about how people can participate or contribute. Additionally, consider including contact information for inquiries and a website or social media links for more information.

How can I measure the success of my advertisement in the newspaper?

To measure the success of your advertisement, track the number of participants or donations received as a direct result of the ad. You can also include a specific code or mention in your advertisement that allows you to identify how many people came from the newspaper. Additionally, gathering feedback from attendees about how they heard about the event can provide valuable insights.

Are there any costs associated with advertising in a local free newspaper?

While many local free newspapers offer complimentary advertising for community events, some may charge a nominal fee for larger ads or special placements. It's essential to check with the newspaper for their specific policies and any potential costs involved. Even if there is a fee, the investment can be worthwhile if it leads to increased participation in your fundraiser.
