Does anyone have a sure way to get fingernail polish out of pants or am I just sunk? My DD wanted her nails painted yesterday so I grabbed the lid thinking it was still closed and splattered blue polish all over my new capris. I tried the fingernail polish remover twice and washed them twice, and it is still there any other suggestions?

I have the same problem. Just bought some Grandma's Spot Remover (that's the name). I've had several people tell me that it works even on dried in stuff. I'll let you know!

Anxious to hear if that works... my friend's daughter had a bottle of fingernail polish wrapped in her clothes and it went through the wash! Talk about an unhappy mom! Everything had purple on it! Let us know Crystal!

Thanks let me know. I hope it works. A couple weeks ago I ripped my skirt that I wore to my shows so I bought the capris for my shows now I need to buy something else if I cant get it off.

WD 40..... rube well into the polish (both inside and outside your pant leg)

wash and repeat if needed.

Works, tried personally

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to remove fingernail polish from pants?

The best way to remove fingernail polish from pants is to act quickly. Blot the stain with a paper towel to absorb excess polish, then apply a small amount of acetone-based nail polish remover to a cotton ball or cloth. Gently dab the stained area, working from the outside in to avoid spreading the stain. Rinse with cold water and launder as usual.

Can I use non-acetone nail polish remover on my pants?

Yes, you can use non-acetone nail polish remover, but it may be less effective on tough stains. Apply it in the same manner as acetone-based remover, dabbing gently on the stain. Always test on a hidden area first to ensure it doesn't damage the fabric.

What should I do if the fingernail polish stain is dry?

If the stain is dry, start by gently scraping off any excess polish with a dull knife or credit card. Then, apply a small amount of nail polish remover to a cotton ball and dab the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water and washing the pants as usual.

Are there any home remedies for removing fingernail polish from fabric?

Yes, some home remedies include using rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer. Apply a small amount to a cotton ball and dab the stain gently. Another option is to use vinegar and cornstarch paste; apply it to the stain, let it dry, and then brush it off before laundering.

Will removing fingernail polish damage my pants?

It depends on the fabric and the method used. Always test any remover on a hidden area of the fabric first to check for colorfastness. Acetone can be harsh on certain materials, so use it with caution. If you're concerned, consider taking the pants to a professional cleaner.
