Finding a New Ride: Remembering Ye Olde Escort's Last Journey

In summary, Ye Olde Escort was pronounced dead today around noon by Helpful Mechanic. She started her career escorting people as a rental car, and later was escourted by the Repo Man to an auto auction, which is where I met her. She escorted me for 4 years and 87,000 miles, so she served me well. There are several options available to me, including using a friend's van for a few days. Pray for something good to become available soon.

I have a few options available to me. My recruiter's husband has been thinking about selling a vehicle, and my stepsister's ex-husband is in the used car business. I need to get a car QUICKLY. Fortunately, I have a friend going on vacation, so I can use their van for a few days.

Should you feel motivated, please pray for something good to become available, and soon.

Sounds like you saved her from her sordid past and that she lived out the end of her days quite well.I know where there's a '39 Buick for sale, but that might be kinda large after an Escort.

Oh it's so sad when we lose a trusty old friend. I had to have my old '88 Taurus towed away a couple years ago! To this day, I still wish I was driving that car. I loved it, rust and all:)!

Right now I am thanking God that my Sunday show canceled.

Well, not really ... because then at least I'd have borrowed transportation!

I am thinking this may motivate me in my business!

An extra show or two a month can make a car more affordable. :)Here's wishing you happy car hunting, and low prices. (That's the advantage to buying this time of year - prices tend to be a little lower.)

You brought back some fun memories for me. We drove an Escort named Fred when The Furry Guy and I first married. We lived in a military town, and The Furry Guy felt the need to use the horn fairly frequently. However, our little Fred had a very anemic horn. The Furry Guy started just sticking his head out the window and yelling, "HONK!" The memory still makes me giggle.Of course, The Furry Guy was a little less furry as a marine, so it didn't present quite the picture it would today. :)

LOL! When I first got Ye Olde Escort, I noticed it had NO HORN. A mechanic said it was simply unplugged ...A day later, I was taking a friend to a doctor's appointment. I was cleaning the window and apparently brushed the steering wheel. Next thing I hear is BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!I was looking for a place where I could unplug it when someone yelled, "Hit the horn!" Of course, he had to repeat himself because all I could hear is beeeeeeeeeep! For the next few days, the horn beeped with little provocation, usually if I hit it. I learned the secret of stopping the beep, so it didn't bother me.Then one day, I'm in the office minding my own business and I hear BEEEEEEEEEEEEP!All i could think was, "that's all I need for this to go off in the middle of the night.Horn has been unplugged ever since.

You should plug it back in before it goes away.I was in the automobile business several years ago. The parts stores had route guys who went from shop to shop, checking inventories and restocking the shops with brake parts, light bulbs and other stuff that got frequently used. One of the sales guys was a quiet and mousey kind of guy. In one shop, while he was working, one of the wrenches went out back and attached the horn relay to his brake light switch, so every time he stepped on his brake, his horn blew.He caused quite a few problems around town before another mechanic figured it out and fixed it for him.

I think that guy may have worked on a car or two of mine before I married The Furry Guy.
