When Deciding to Go 'Full-Time'...

In summary, the conversation is about someone who is trying to transition from part-time to full-time work and is seeking advice on maintaining a consistent number of shows per month while also providing quality host coaching. Some participants mention that it can take four to six months to see results from this transition and that staying focused on eight shows a month is a good goal. One person shares their experience with booking and holding more than eight shows a month and the challenges it can bring with maintaining quality host coaching. Another person mentions a workshop they attended where it was suggested that eight shows a month is enough to generate sales and grow a business. They also mention their personal goal of booking as many shows as possible and their current focus on host coaching and team building. The conversation

This is in response to a recent posting comment...but I don't remember what thread (sorry).

Someone posted that she and her DH decided she'd try this full-time for three months before maybe returning to work. I just wanted to say I think it takes four-six months to see the results of going from part-time to full-time.

What we do now, impacts our business three months from now. Getting into the work habits for maintaining 8 shows a months usually takes a little adjusting. Biggest tip I can give you is to stay focused on 8 shows a month...beat the bushes until you find them...then provide each host first-rate host coaching...and it will all start to fall into place.:chef:

I agree . Do you ever book (and hold) more than 8 in one month? If so, do you find it hard to still provide first-rate hhost coaching?

This is my question too. Last Fall & Winter, I was doing 10-14 shows a month, and my host coaching went down the tubes. I talked to my AD about it - because she does at least 8 shows a month (My director does about 6) and she said that her host coaching faltered when she did more than 10 shows a month too.
So - I always wonder how those who are doing over 10 shows a month consistently handle their host coaching.

I think it was me that you are talking about!!!!

I know that it takes longer than that to actually become full time. What I meant was that I am going to work it for three months and we'll see where we're at before we make a decision about work. I don't have to be completely full time by that date.

I am also teaching piano, renting an apartment, and selling stuff to make up the rest of my former income.

Thanks for the advice, though!!!!

Last year I had 7 months where I submitted 9 or more shows (a high of 14 in one month). Staying on top of quality Host Coaching is the biggest challenge...one I didn't always do well at during my busy months.

At Leadership in Jan, I attended a workshop with Don Funt. He made a great comment about '8 being enough'. It generates the sales and business interest necessary to earn the trips and grow your business. It was an a-ha moment for me. Eight is truly doable without sacrificing quality (or sanity). That is what I would like to make my norm....just not this year.:(

I'm personally booking as much as I can right now. I moved last Dec and again in Feb....both my sales and team building suffered tremendously. I'm back up to 4-6K months, but Paris is my goal...and I'm down by over 40,000 points. I don't want my host coaching to suffer, so I'm really focusing on that (HC is already my strong point, so I just need to stay on top of it). I'm learning to make my shows much simpler (love the interactive format) and not sweat details that really aren't important. I'm also focusing on my team...attending New Director Academy next month so I can finally learn how to do some things better!

I probably answered more than you wanted, but felt I needed to explain why I'm not following my own advice right now!:blushing:

Legacy...when you moved - was it to a new town/city or just to a new house? I am considering moving - but would have to start fresh AGAIN!

When she moved it was from Germany to the US!

Thanks Becky!

It was from Germany to Florida last December and then to Pennsylvannia on Feb 1st. My Feb sales were less then $300, but my March was over $4K. Then my sales see-sawed for a couple months, but are now finally consistent. I got a lot of "no's" when I first got here, but I also got the handful of yes's I needed to move forward. :) (I strongly recommend the 'Move It, Don't Lose It' CD on the supply order form. It features our own Morfia with some great advice.)

One of the tips I had heard for managing Host Coaching is to do all your Host Coaching on the same day of the week -- like Monday. No matter when the show is due, you do your Host Coaching on that day.

You can tell your Host's what day to expect your call -- no matter what.

You can call and do Call #1 with Susie Host, Call #3 with Sally Hostess and Call #2 with Sherman Host.....

Sounds like a great way to save time and not put it off!

This works! I don't always do them on the same day, but I do try to 'stack' as many as I can. Makes it easier since you're focus is on one thing: host coaching.
