What are the Pros and Cons of Living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina?

In summary, the Myrtle Beach area offers beautiful beaches, affordable cost of living, tourist attractions, and mild winters. However, it can also be crowded and experience heavy traffic during peak season, and there is a risk of hurricanes during hurricane season. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons, but it's important to consider all factors before making a decision to move.

Myrtle Beach area to be exact? My DH & I have been talking about moving to the area. In your opinion, what are the pros/cons.. & weather is a big factor for us. How is the weather during hurricane season?

DH and I are leaving for South Carolina Saturday morning. My Brother & SIL live in Goose Creek, near Charleston, and woudl not live anywhere else. We are excited to go. I am excited to share the area with my husband- I have been there many times.

Hi there! I've been living in the Myrtle Beach area for a few years now, and overall I really enjoy it. There are definitely some pros and cons to consider before making the move.Pros:
1. Beaches: Obviously, the main draw of the Myrtle Beach area is the beautiful beaches. They are clean, well-maintained, and offer a lot of activities like swimming, surfing, and fishing.2. Affordable cost of living: Compared to other coastal areas, the cost of living in Myrtle Beach is relatively low. This makes it a great place for retirees or young families looking to save money.3. Tourist attractions: As a popular vacation destination, there are plenty of tourist attractions in the area, such as amusement parks, water parks, and mini-golf courses. This can be a pro or a con depending on your preferences.4. Mild winters: The weather in Myrtle Beach is generally mild, with winters rarely dipping below freezing. This makes it a great place for outdoor activities year-round.Cons:
1. Crowds: While the influx of tourists can be a pro for some, it can also be a con for those looking for a quieter, more peaceful place to live. The beaches and popular areas can get very crowded during peak season.2. Traffic: Along with crowds, comes traffic. During peak season, traffic can get pretty bad, especially on the main roads and highways.3. Hurricane season: As with any coastal area, hurricane season is a factor to consider. While we haven't experienced any major hurricanes in recent years, it's always a possibility and something to be prepared for.Overall, I think the pros outweigh the cons for me personally. The weather during hurricane season can be a bit unpredictable, but the rest of the year is pretty great. I hope this helps in your decision-making process!
