Understanding Insurance Deduction: What It Means for Your Commission Statement

In summary, an insurance deduction is a portion of an employee's paycheck that goes towards covering the cost of an insurance policy. Whether insurance deductions are mandatory or not depends on the specific policy and employer's policies. The amount deducted for insurance varies and can be changed or cancelled during open enrollment periods or due to qualifying life events. Insurance deductions are typically not tax deductible for employees, but self-employed individuals may be able to deduct certain premiums as a business expense. It's best to consult with a tax professional for specific advice on tax deductions for insurance premiums.

What is it?
I see it on my commission statement

We are charged $2 a month to cover incedentals that happen during shows and stuff. Like setting a host's kitchen on fire, breaking a tile in the floor, breaking a microwave stuff like that (I've heard stories about all of those before). That $2 insures us so HO will take care of the issue.

A lot of this information is covered in the Policy Guide on CC. I recommend reading through it at least once, so you know what information is covered in it, so you know what you can refer to it for in the future.
