Director Lost Gift Certificate - What to Do and How to Get a Replacement

I have a customer in my downline who has misplaced a gift certificate. Has anyone had this happen? Is she simply out of luck (like if she misplaced $25 cash)? I'm wondering since the certifcates are numbered.

(Unfortunately, I can't call the Solution Center. I'm out of the country until mid-week....DH had a business trip, so I tagged along. :))
 
I'm guessing she might just be out of luck. But have her check to make sure. I just had a customer tell me this week that a gift certificate she ordered never showed up. I asked HO if there was a way to track if it had been used. She said there wasn't. They just reissued one and didn't say anything about making the other one "invalid." So, that's just my guess.
