To garnish effectively, you will need a paring knife, vegetable peeler, kitchen shears, and a variety of garnishing tools such as a zester, melon baller, and pastry bag.
Some easy garnishing techniques include using a vegetable peeler to create ribbons from carrots or cucumbers, using kitchen shears to create fringed edges on herbs, and using a zester to create citrus curls.
To make your garnishes stand out, consider using a variety of colors and textures, using unique shapes and designs, and adding a pop of color with fresh herbs or edible flowers.
While some fruits and vegetables are more commonly used for garnishing, you can get creative and use almost any type of produce for garnishing. Just make sure it is fresh and firm enough to hold its shape.
To keep your garnishes fresh, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you are ready to use them. Some garnishes may also be stored in water to keep them hydrated.
