This is going to sound stupid - but do you need to put some water in with your veggies to cook them in the micro cookers? If so, how much?

Thanks! Getting ready to make one of the new seasons best recipes for dinner and was in a panic :)

if they are frozen veggies, yes put a little in, about 2-3 tbl, there should be directions on the bag for doing them in the microwave.

I never add water to frozen vegetables. I just pour them out of the freezer pack into the microcooker. Put on the steamer lid and microwave on high for 5 minutes. They are always moist and fresh. the corn tastes like it was just removed from the cob.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much water do I need to steam vegetables in the microwave?

The general rule of thumb is to use about 2 to 4 tablespoons of water for steaming vegetables in the microwave. The exact amount can vary depending on the type and quantity of vegetables you are cooking.

Can I use a microwave-safe dish without a lid for cooking veggies?

Yes, you can use a microwave-safe dish without a lid, but it's recommended to cover the dish with a microwave-safe plate or microwave-safe plastic wrap to help retain steam and moisture, which aids in even cooking.

What types of vegetables are best for microwave cooking?

Most vegetables can be cooked in the microwave, but some of the best options include broccoli, carrots, green beans, and zucchini. These vegetables tend to cook quickly and evenly in the microwave.

Is it necessary to add water when microwaving vegetables?

While it's not strictly necessary to add water, doing so helps create steam, which cooks the vegetables more evenly and prevents them from drying out. If you prefer a drier texture, you can reduce the amount of water or skip it altogether.

How do I know when my vegetables are done cooking in the microwave?

You can check for doneness by piercing the vegetables with a fork. They should be tender but still slightly crisp. Cooking times can vary based on the type and size of the vegetables, so start with 2-3 minutes and adjust as needed.
