Does any one know what can be used as a substitute for the Moroccan Rub in this recipe? Usually, that info is given as a quick tip, but not in the new appetizer cook book.

Do you have the Cooking for 2 or More book? It has a great recipe for Moroccan Lamb Chops. Since we came out with the moroccan rub I subsititue it for the ingredients listed and it tastes just as good with less work (you can also subsititue pork chops for the lamb).

2 tsp. curry powder
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. salt

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Moroccan Rub and what are its main ingredients?

Moroccan Rub is a spice blend typically made from a combination of spices such as cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, and sometimes ginger or turmeric. It is known for its warm, aromatic flavor profile that enhances various dishes, especially meats and vegetables.

What can I use if I don't have Moroccan Rub on hand?

If you don't have Moroccan Rub, you can create a substitute by mixing equal parts of cumin, coriander, and paprika. Adding a pinch of cinnamon and a dash of cayenne pepper can help replicate the warm and slightly spicy flavor of the original rub.

Can I use curry powder as a substitute for Moroccan Rub?

Yes, curry powder can be used as a substitute for Moroccan Rub, but it will impart a different flavor profile. Curry powder typically contains turmeric, which gives it a distinct yellow color and flavor. If you choose to use curry powder, consider adding some cumin and coriander to better mimic the Moroccan flavors.

Are there any fresh herbs I can use instead of Moroccan Rub?

Fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley can be used to add freshness to your dish, but they won't replicate the spice blend's flavor. If you want to incorporate fresh herbs, consider mixing them with ground spices like cumin and coriander to achieve a more similar taste.

How can I adjust the spice levels when substituting for Moroccan Rub?

When substituting for Moroccan Rub, you can adjust the spice levels by varying the amounts of cumin, coriander, and paprika according to your taste preferences. If you prefer a spicier dish, add more cayenne pepper or chili powder. For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of these spices.
