Not really sure how to reply to the email I just received. I personally don't like and don't use the black ones and was so happy when they came out with the new ones.Just curious about the kitchen shears I purchased last fall. They have become very dull, I can barely cut through anything anymore. Can they be re-sharpened or what do you suggest I do to make them something that’s worthy of my drawer space J. Thanks.

just offer to exchange them for her. they're still within warranty.

Don't even know why I didn't think of that...

I don't have those shears, I have the old "new" ones from when they were white. BUT regardless, she should be able to sharpen them on aluminum foil. Just fold a piece up a couple times and cut through it with the shears several times. That should do the trick. But truly, unless she doesn't want to, I would exchange them too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I sharpen my kitchen shears?

It is recommended to sharpen your kitchen shears every few months, depending on how frequently you use them. If you notice that they are not cutting as smoothly or require more force to cut through items, it may be time to sharpen them.

What is the best method for sharpening kitchen shears?

The best method for sharpening kitchen shears is to use a dedicated shear sharpener or a whetstone. For a shear sharpener, simply follow the manufacturer's instructions. If using a whetstone, hold the shears at a 20-degree angle and gently slide the blade along the stone, alternating sides until sharp.

Can I use a regular knife sharpener for my kitchen shears?

While some knife sharpeners may claim to sharpen kitchen shears, it is best to use a sharpener specifically designed for shears. Regular knife sharpeners may not accommodate the unique shape of shear blades and could damage them.

How do I clean my kitchen shears before sharpening?

To clean your kitchen shears, disassemble them if possible and wash the blades with warm, soapy water. Use a soft brush or cloth to remove any food particles. Rinse and dry thoroughly before sharpening to ensure optimal performance.

What are some tips for maintaining kitchen shears?

To maintain your kitchen shears, regularly clean them after use, avoid cutting through hard materials like bone, and store them in a protective sheath or drawer to prevent damage. Additionally, periodically check for loose screws and tighten them if necessary.
