I just had a customer ask ... insist, that PC carrys a Candy Thermometer? I am still rather new (5 months) but I know we do not. Did we ever? And if so, is there a way to locate one for her?
Thanks

We used to have a thermometer that could be used with candy, but it was discontinued several years ago. Nothing in the current line is compatible with candy-making. (Thermometer-wise. The Pastry Mat is great for spreading out hot candy for cooling.)

Wish they did!!!

That's funny, 'cause someone asked me the same thing this past saturday when I set up at a booth. I also had a request about a ravioli maker.

we did have a tool for crimping the edges of pasta

for reaching out, and congratulations on your new venture with Pampered Chef! I understand your customer's request for a Candy Thermometer and I want to assure you that we do not currently carry one in our product line. However, we are always looking to expand and improve our offerings, so I will definitely pass along your customer's request to our product development team. In the meantime, I recommend checking out some of our other kitchen tools that can help with candy-making, such as our digital thermometer or our silicone candy molds. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. Happy cooking!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a candy thermometer and why is it important?

A candy thermometer is a specialized kitchen tool used to measure the temperature of sugar syrups and candy mixtures. It is important because achieving the correct temperature is crucial for making candies like fudge, caramel, and toffee, ensuring they have the right texture and consistency.

Where can I find a candy thermometer for my customer?

You can find a candy thermometer at various retail locations, including kitchen supply stores, big-box retailers, and online marketplaces. Additionally, Pampered Chef may offer candy thermometers as part of their product line, so check their catalog or website for availability.

What types of candy thermometers are available?

Candy thermometers come in several types, including dial thermometers, digital thermometers, and infrared thermometers. Dial thermometers are traditional and easy to read, while digital thermometers provide quick and accurate readings. Infrared thermometers allow for non-contact temperature measurement, which can be useful in certain candy-making scenarios.

How do I choose the right candy thermometer for my customer?

When choosing a candy thermometer, consider factors such as accuracy, ease of use, and the type of candy your customer plans to make. Digital thermometers are often preferred for their quick readings, while dial thermometers may be more familiar to some users. It's also important to ensure the thermometer has a suitable temperature range for candy making, typically up to 400°F (204°C).

Are there any tips for using a candy thermometer effectively?

Yes! To use a candy thermometer effectively, make sure to clip it to the side of the pot without touching the bottom, as this can give inaccurate readings. Always calibrate the thermometer before use, and monitor the temperature closely to avoid burning the sugar. It's also helpful to familiarize yourself with the different temperature stages of candy making for better results.
