What do you order a guest that tells the host she wants the Pizza Stone? Do you get the new one with handles? The old one since that was what she was thinking? Make the host go ask and delay the show?

This has happened several times and I have a host that has gotten two requests for the stone but has no clue that there are two different ones. I dread having to drag this closing out anymore so just want to make an executive decision. Thanks for your thoughts....

I would just order the one with handles. Apparently the guest has no clue either. I prefer the one with handles over the regular one and it's only a couple bucks more.

But if you have a phone number for the guest, you could always call and try to upsell a pizza cutter or cookbook onto the order.

You're going to have to call and ask. I had a customer tell me yesterday that she was ordering a "pizza stone" for a friend, and it turns out she ordered the rectangle stone. I had another guest tell me she had a "pizza stone" and when she described it to me, she was describing the Large Bar Pan. Our customers don't know that they all have a different name - it's like "Kleenex" - that's just one brand of tissues, but people use it as the name of all tissues. Or, my favorite is "tennis shoes" - hello, little white sneakers with little to no support are not for playing tennis in! ;)

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the main differences between the two pizza stones offered by Pampered Chef?

The main differences between the two pizza stones often include size, material, and heat retention properties. One may be larger, allowing for bigger pizzas, while the other might be made from a different type of stone that offers better heat distribution. It's essential to consider what size and features align best with your cooking style and needs.

2. How do I determine which pizza stone is best for my cooking habits?

To determine which pizza stone is best for you, consider how often you make pizza, the size of pizzas you typically prepare, and whether you also want to use the stone for baking other items like bread or pastries. If you frequently host gatherings, a larger stone might be more beneficial, whereas a smaller one could suffice for personal use.

3. Can I use both pizza stones for different purposes?

Yes, both pizza stones can be used for different purposes beyond just pizza. They are excellent for baking bread, cookies, and even roasting vegetables. If you decide to purchase both, you can use one for savory dishes and the other for sweet treats, maximizing your kitchen versatility.

4. What maintenance is required for each pizza stone?

Both pizza stones require similar maintenance, which includes avoiding soap and harsh detergents when cleaning. Instead, let the stone cool, scrape off any food residue, and wipe it down with a damp cloth. Regular seasoning with oil can also help maintain the stone's non-stick properties and longevity.

5. Are there any specific recipes that work better with one pizza stone over the other?

While most recipes can be adapted to either stone, some may perform better depending on the stone's material and thickness. For instance, a thicker stone may retain heat better for deep-dish pizzas, while a thinner stone might be ideal for crispy crusts. Consider the type of pizza you enjoy making most when deciding which stone to choose.
