View Full Version : New product announcements

Since we're less than 3 weeks from Leadership, I thought I'd start this thread. Post your ideas here of what you think will be new spring products. Not necessarily a wish list, but what you realistically think will be added to the catalog. Remember, too, that it's the SPRING catalog - it's unlikely that there will be items related to soup and comfort foods, but very likely that there will be things for outdoor entertaining.

I'm always amazed at what HO adds. Just when I think we've got everything covered, they introduce something new.

My picks:
KEEP the cranberry and white striped towels. Why else would the tablecloth and apron be a January incentive?
plastic tumblers to match the outdoor party plates and cutlery
Woven Selections picnic basket
some new Chillzanne piece, even if it's just the bowl from the sectional server available separately
HWC: host-only SA vase or serving piece

wadesgirl

Cookbook Stand
Spice Rack

These are the two items that would make sense to add.

I am exited to see what they are going to add, cannot wait!

I know it's not supposed to be a wish list - but what if that Woven Picnic Basket had special pockets for the outdoor party plates and flatware?
Now that the SA is being shown and promoted not just as serving pieces, but also as dinnerware - S&P shakers, Butter Dish, Sugar & Creamer......makes sense with the Bridal Registry, and coming into the big Bridal Season...

And I'm excited because I earned all of the levels!!! And $$ in December - so if there is anything I want more of, I won't have to spend cash! Whoo Hooo!!!

Quick - someone get me away from the exclamation point key!!!!!!

Yeah- someone take Becky's !/1 key off her keyboard!

Really, though, Becky, I was actually picturing a liner or elastics in a picnic basket to hold plates and flatware. That's just scary that you thought the same thing.

I do have a very slight advantage on 1 product - I was one of the consultants who received a potential product survey several months ago. It included pics of one of the items I mentioned - we'll see if it ends up in the catalog. ;)

Wish list-type items:
SA teapot or tea-for-one set
SA accessories (sugar bowl, creamer, S&P shakers, gravy boat)
SS teakettle
pot rack/spice rack/cookbook holder
Woven Selections medium square bowl - the piece that was a consultant incentive a couple of years ago. That piece is the PERFECT size for napkins!
Seasoning gift set
Tea/coffee/cocoa

Not scary at all - just proves that adage - "great minds think alike" or maybe we can just say that we're smarter than the average bear.:D (get it - Yogi...picnic baskets.....okay, it's a stretch.:balloon: )

And I want that woven medium basket so badly. That was offered the year I had just had Micah, so couldn't go to conference....

Well... they did mention something "green" a while back.... I have been wondering what that might be.

pamperedalf
12-21-2007, 10:37 AM
I signed up right after that conference.

I think we will get:
Small Santuko
New additions to the Dots
A new cookware piece open stock
Other than that I am baffled!

I like the vase for HWC, something even classier.

I wish we had a "lettuce knife" not just a pink one this upcoming season. That would be a nice spring add-on.

I didn't earn the free product in November, but I earned my heart dish last night and am saving money for spring samples. :)

I think the picnic basket and outdoor stuff would be great...maybe calmer colors...the khaki will blend well...

Tea kettle has still been high on the wishlist.

I think maybe they'll add more to the cookware since the professional is going away.

Oh, that's right, Colleen! I forgot about the green item from Sell a Thon!

(uh-oh. Looks like someone has to take my !/1 key, too.)

hmmm.... green would work for cups to match the plates/flatware.

For the can strainer to fit tuna, you turn it over and press in.

We NEED a steamer basket for cookware available open stock.

I saw the woven selection for the bowls at my directors house and I love it - I wish that would come out for us to buy

I wish they would bring out a lid for the Salad/Berry Spinner. They people who ordered the spinner from me ask if there is a lid that fits it and I say I don't think so.

Sorry to hijack but that reminded me of an incident. My recruit recently cut herself with a kitchen knife and had to go to the doctor because it had gotten infected within hours. The first thing the doctor asked her was if her knives were kept in a block. When she told him yes, he said that the blocks harbor all kinds of bacteria and this was a common occurence.

I have a rack instead. It's wooden and stands alone but the bottom isn't closed in. The knives hang in slots. Makes me scared of blocks now.

Eeww, that's gross. I use the old PC block and knives all the time.

I'm thinking the scrapers will be green, and/or another green knife will be added.
Hoping for a serving spoon for the trifle bowl.
Do they ever add stones in the spring? I'm looking forward to a rectangle stone with handles.
Also, I'd just like a boat load of new recipes specifically developed for great demos: easy, fast, but using a lot of (high priced) tools. I would like to use the citrus press, microplane grater, ultimate mandolin, chef's/santoku knife, cutting board, pastry mat and a stone all for one great recipe with normal ingredients. Add to that an even simpler recipe (five ingredients or less and no baking) to make while that one is cooking. I don't want much!

I was one of the chosen too as well but I can't remmeber what I got so excited about! LOL!!!

I just want some new SA...I am tired of multi colored scrapers.
I LOVE the blue plastic cups from a few years ago so cups would be great!

I would like to see:
*the medium woven...i think it'd sell like hot-cakes
*outdoor party plates in better colors...ditto utensils
*a well-thought-out knife holding system
*more open stock cookware
*outdoor serving tray
* SA completer set - like s&p, etc
*SA medium squares in clear glass
*lettuce knife
*rect stone w/handles
*butter bell
*garlic storage
*SA kitchen cannisters ( flour sugar etc)
* brushed stainess TTA
* serving spoon for Trifle Bowl
* woven tray to hold the Lg Bar Pan...with fold-down legs so it could double as a bed-tray - maybe it could even fit the double burner griddle!
* a better FR program

chefann
12-22-2007, 08:40 AM
Ooh, Carolyn! You've put some thought into that list!

I keep asking for a butter bell, too. But a Woven Selections tray that doubles as a bed tray is GENIUS!

That is a good one!

And, do you remember at Conference, when they came out to do the new product announcements, and everyone saw the brushed SS kitchen canisters on the kitchen counter, and went wild.....and then they were just props.....I keep thinking it would be nice if they showed up for the S/S catalog!

pamperedposey
12-22-2007, 08:54 AM
I would like a woven that holds the large bar pan. I made warm nutty caramel brownies for my hubby's work and wished that I had something nice to put under the bar pan. I didn't want to send a platter for fear that it would come home broken.

I think that the new color could be blue. My MIL told me that is "the color" for 2008. The "green item" could be another color coated knife. I think they are trying to throw us off. They just had green (microfibers, dots towels, scraper, etc).

I'm so excited about Leadership!! Soon we won't be guessing!

For all of the items everyone is really hoping for, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE log onto Consultant's Corner and under HO e-mails, list them in the product suggestions link! HO DOES LISTEN! But they will never know what we want unless we tell them!

HO doesn't have ESP! We need to tell them! These are all AWESOME ideas!!! Tell them!!!! :D :D :D

On the knife block suggestion, one of the biggest reasons knives blocks aren't good for your knives is when you pull them in and out, if they scrape the block it can dull and damage your blades. Not good for your knives.

My sister asked about the shealths that come with our knives now, being a nurse, she asked what would happen if she did a culture on the shealths after using them for a while. I pointed out to her that they can come apart and are dishwasher safe (as far as I know!). She was glad to hear that. You cannot put a regular knife block in the dishwasher! I like the idea of some sort of case or stand but not a block.

I posted earlier, but I just thought of this. I would love for them to bring the wrought iron stands back. I don't want them to take away the SS just add a wrought iron line. I think we should be offering both. SS is not for everyone's kitchen.

Oh and I took the survey. There were lots of WS pieces in the one I took. Some of them looked rather odd and not quite hitting our target audience, but maybe that is their goal (to branch out into new markets). Some of it looked too SL or TOHE. I am very anxious to see what they'll be unveiling next! They always surprise me!

chefann
12-22-2007, 04:50 PM
Hmmm... those weren't the pieces in the survey I took. The one I took had a bunch of things that were already in the catalog. And one particular (set of) item that coordinated with the outdoor party plates and cutlery. (Think of the shape of the plates and what they can hold.)

Branching out into new markets is OK, but I'd hate to lose the kitchenwares focus and become mostly entertaining products.

12-22-2007, 09:11 PM
Ooh, some of the things I saw in the survey are starting to come back to me! Somehow you have sparked my memory (it's really not good). I don't remember seeing wovens, but I know what Ann is talking about...very cute! I hope to see those come out in the Spring. I bet they will.

12-22-2007, 11:50 PM
That's hilarious about the two "blacks" forecasted for spring? Really...is there much of a difference between black and black? LOL

For products...I am desparately wanting simple additions lids!!! Specifically for the small and medium bowls...because I frequently created dips and such in them and would love to store the leftovers easily. I've requested this the past three NCs and no results :( Hopefully we'll have better luck this time.

Can't wait to find out the new stuff!

wadesgirl
12-23-2007, 12:26 AM
I was glad last season to see that they didn't really get rid of much, just upgraded alot! I, too, am wondering what they are going to retire. I don't want to see the cheese grater go, it was one of the first PC products I have ever owned and now I have 3!

covered cake stand
open stock cookware

An Executive Roasting Pan is a shoe-in being the current one is Professional.
I have wanted a WS to fit the large bar pan forever and I'd love one for the medium square. My director has the one from conference a few years back and I just love it. In the fall, I predicted the can opener would be black and that did not happen - I'm predicting that again! Other than that, I don't know, I am curious as to what the new "green" item will be....maybe a scraper?

Actually the Roaster is a mixture of the 2 - and it has the Executive Autograph 2 coating on the inside.....I believe when they announced that the Professional line was leaving that they said the Roaster was staying.

I put them in my block with the blade side up so it does not dull by scraping the wood - I believe it keeps it safer (cleaner) too. I ALWAYS make sure knives are clean before putting in the block or sheath so I would think that there wouldn't be bacteria entered in there to grow. - probably being naive.

If you have a tool bag for Barbeque Tools, the knives fit in there very well. A little bulky, but a handy carrying case.

I also hope for SA lids, as well as a ladle/serving spoon for the Trifle Bowl.

Small SA bowls in cranberry. I cannot tell you how many hosts want cranberry small bowls, but don't want the multicolored set. They want the cranberry! Maybe next fall if not in the spring....

so is it at random for those who get picked to take the survey? I would love to partake in that. I know there were TONS of suggestions I submitted to HO this year. Personally, I think R&D or product development for PC would be the best job to have! Unfortunately, I will not be attending leadership, but would LOVE to get a sneak peak of the items once they're unveiled!

Someone mentioned the cheese grater, although it is an 'oldie', I don't think they'll get rid of it. Maybe a redesign, but it would be like getting rid of the garlic press. ;-)

Someone mentioned the cheese grater, although it is an 'oldie', I don't think they'll get rid of it. Maybe a redesign, but it would be like getting rid of the garlic press. ;-)

When I first read this, I thought you said to GET RID of the garlic press  I have three of those to go along with three of my cheese graters.

The survey was fun, I think they are random. My survey asked me to rate items not in the catalog along with items in the catalog. What I thought of them and what my guests thought of them. There was some good ideas and some not so good ideas.

Ah, sorry about that. Yeah, I look at the food chopper, garlic press, ice cream dipper and cheese grater as PC staples. For those PC virgins that come to a show, I list these as must haves along with the large bar pan (think this piece is a great starter piece).

A 10" Executive skillet as open stock. I have so many customers ask for this! I like the 29 Minutes to Dinner cookbook, but I would like to see one with recipes that are more kid friendly.

I love the idea of green, as it would match my kitchen.....yeah, I know, this isn't a wish list!

A 6qt open stock pot....already mentioned, but hope they come out with one.
A new green knife to go with the santoku and tomato knife
Microfiber dish cloths
Tablecloth to match the outdoor dishes (and the new picnic basket...;) )
Clips to hold down the tablecloth

That's all I got for now.............I'm sure I'll think of something else later.

2 Cup Prep Bowls sound great. I would love a pot rack and knife hanger. They would both help with room in the kitchen. If we don't offer one...we're gonna go out & buy them from someone else. Hate to do that. Steamer & pasta inserts as open stock for the executive set. Love our cookware. Additional SA pieces. Can't think of anything else right now but I know I've seem items in the store & said wish we had that.:chef:

Does anyone think they may add a couple of pots/pans with a green/colored outside? I'm thinking Rachel Rae and her orange ones...maybe these would be limited or spring only.

Maybe more $$

A raise? Now, that's dreaming!! :sing:
I've actually heard from upline (before last NC) they are looking at this issue...that doesn't mean it will happen now, but maybe in the future. They are trying to stay current with other DS companies' commissions.

I know PC used to have one of these but I would really love to have a scale. I know so many people who are counting thier calories a nice digital scale would be nice.

I have a great digital scale, but one from PC would be much easeir to sell! Also, I agree a good dutch oven would be awesome, and I would love either a larger bar pan or a great roasting pan (shallow)...I roasted veggies tonight and really could have used a bigger pan! Also, I would love a pan for under the broiler...I know the stainless can do this, but I'm thinking of something geared toward a broiler pan.

I don't know what to add. I think everything I thought of while reading was mentioned before I got to the end. I would like to see things get back to basics. It seems that many recipes lately have gotten more gourmet and many of my customers like plan, quick, and easy things to make.
I too worry about if all this new stuff comes out then what are they taking away. Sometimes, that is just a stressful as what are the new products.
Please keep those of us not going informed of what is presented. I'm sure many of us will be glued to the site to see the information.

I love the idea of the 2 cup prep bowls - I think back in the fall I posted that I'd like to see a 2 cup batter bowl. Prep Bowls (maybe a set of 4) would be even better!
I'd like a double boiler insert for the cookware. I've had many requests for that.

PC used to have a Double Boiler. I sold a ton of them too! Not sure when we discontinued it but it wasn't too long ago. I love mine and actually use it often... just used it Christmas Eve!

A double boiler would be nice. I've had several people mention it, usually around Christmas and Easter when they are in a candy/chocolate making mode.

I am hoping they will redesign the egg slicer plus and the salt and pepper mill.

I would like for them to bring back the tea and coffee...the coffee could be a regular blend, but I loved the tea.

A woven selection for the oval stoneware pieces would be nice.

A nice canister set would be a great addition.

I am hoping they bring the salsa back. I had lots of customers who loved the salsa mix.

I would also like to see regular size round coffee cups. The coffee and more cups are really too big for coffee, but they are great for soup or hot cocoa.

A cake-taker...I used to use the old Round Chillzanne platter with lid until my kids dropped the lid and broke it.

I have been wanting a stoneware crock with lid...in large size. Home and Garden Party has one called a Bean Pot. It is stoneware, has small handles on the sides, a lid, and is glazed and decorated on the outside. You can bake beans in the oven. I have one that I use to carry cheese dip, chili, or stew to church dinners. I make the food and then put it in the bean pot to carry it. It keeps the food hot forever. I also have the basket that you can carry it in. This is one piece that I absolutely love. They have other stoneware pieces, but they aren't comparable to ours. Theirs are dishwasher safe.

I AGREE SHAWNA!!!!!

and here are a few more on my wants list:

A serving spoon for the trifle bowl.
A magnetic knife hanger
A pot rack
A “GREEN” lettuce knife
A rectangle stone w/handles
A nutcracker
SA Cranberry bowls & Squares
A WS for the Cranberry Covered Baker
I like the idea for a 2 cup Batter Bowl & the redesign of the Egg Slicer & Pepper Mill (great thoughts)

I also want the Groom’s Apron back :balloon:

I second handles on all the flat stones. I'm betting that they wanted to see how the larger one went before they came out with the rest.

After using mine this weekend to make two batches of oreo truffles, I wish they would redesign the scoops to include silicone padding where your fingers are. Mine fore finger was so sore from constantly scooping.

It is my understanding that a wood block dulls the knives.

If you have a tool bag for Barbeque Tools, the knives fit in there very well. A little bulky, but a handy carrying case.

Yes, just like the ones used on Top Chef! That would be so Great! Nice idea!

We use our Prep Bowls so much, I think a set of two -2 Cup Bowls would be very useful!

Unfortunately I am unable to attend Leadership this year. :( My husband has his annual Vegas Computer trip for his company, last year we overlapped a day or two. Our three kids stayed at my sisters, we decided not to do that again.

I would love to receive the info too if anyone is willing to send them along to me too! ;)

TIA

I have one similar from FireKing that I have had over 12 years. I love it and use it almost everyday. It basically is a glass measuring cup. It is made very similar to the batter bowls but has red lettering for the measuring marks. I have thought a 2 cup batter bowl is a great idea.

The Bean Pot I am talking about is tall and round...like a large crock that my grandmother used to have...with a flat lid with a small round handle in the center of the lid. The pot itself has small handles on the side. I love the DCB, but the bean pot would take up less room.

Okay, I was going to paste a picture but can't get it to work. If you want to see what they look like go to Home & Garden Party - Home (http://www.homeandgardenparty.com) and browse the serving pieces. There are several styles. The newest is a beautiful pottery look, but it looks shorter and fatter than the style I have. Mine has apples on it, but it is available with sunflowers, pinecones, and sometimes with a snowman on it. It is not shaped like the DCB or any of our pieces. It is kind of like the stoneware crock on the outlet, but a lot bigger with a lid and handles. It is glazed inside and out. Its somewhat like the old butter churns, only smaller.

You can use the bean pot for cooking stew or beans in the oven...probably a lot more things...but I basically use it for keeping chili, stew, cheese dip, etc. warm after cooking it. It doesn't take up a lot of room on the table, so it works great for church dinners where everyone is bringing stuff.
