Just wanted to share a super easy and DELICIOUS recipe for grilling. I did this this at a survivor/grill show and it came out amazing.

Brush uncooked shrimp with the basil oil and then rub them with the basil citrus rub. Grill using the skewers (or directly on the grill).

Products used: silicone brush, basil oil, prep bowl (for oil), citrus-basil rub, skewers, and assorted grill tools.

Yummm...we have tons of shrimp in the freezer - I am going to make this for DH one of these days...and with some coconut rice in the micro rice cooker!! We could turn this into a demo -- for the rice...use Easy Reads, mix & scrapers...u could squeeze a lime with the citrus press into the marinade...yummmmm

ok, now I'm hungry!

What is coconut rice? It sounds yummy! You could also do butter mixed with freshly pressed garlic on the shrimp.

who's cooking, Im comming over for dinner sounds really good. I'll bring the Salad Spinner !!!

Thanks Carolyn.

Where in South Florida are you? I lived in WPB/Jupiter area several years ago. I miss the area (but not the traffic...especially in winter!).

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients are needed for the Grilled Shrimp with Basil Oil & Citrus Rub?

The main ingredients for this recipe include fresh shrimp, basil oil, citrus rub (which typically consists of citrus zest and spices), salt, and pepper. You may also want to have skewers for grilling and fresh basil for garnish.

How do I prepare the basil oil for the recipe?

To prepare the basil oil, blend fresh basil leaves with olive oil in a food processor until smooth. You can strain the mixture if you prefer a clearer oil. This oil adds a fragrant and flavorful touch to the grilled shrimp.

What is the best way to grill the shrimp?

To grill the shrimp, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers and grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook them, as shrimp can become tough if grilled too long.

Can I use frozen shrimp for this recipe?

Yes, you can use frozen shrimp, but it's important to thaw them completely before marinating and grilling. You can thaw shrimp by placing them in the refrigerator overnight or by running them under cold water for a quick thaw.

What sides pair well with Grilled Shrimp with Basil Oil & Citrus Rub?

This dish pairs well with a variety of sides, such as a fresh garden salad, grilled vegetables, or a citrus quinoa salad. The bright flavors of the shrimp complement light and refreshing sides perfectly.
