OK, I am DONE with Yahoo! They have purged my e-mall not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES. Both times prior they have established "tickets" and told me there was no evidence that my e-mall was "popped." '

Everything in my sent folders and all my folders were obliterated ... they even trashed my address book, though I was able to resurrect it from the trash. This includes my previous newsletters and all the addresses I used.

Meanwhile, my roomate does not know my password, neither does anyone else and both of us have "alibis" for the time this happened.

Any ideas on a better mail provider? I want something that is user friendly, offers gobs of space if not unlimited storage, and has "doodads" to make newsletter sending and other nifty tricks easier.

I like AOL and I use mine of the internet. No charge! :)

I HATED A-O-hell when I had it .... but most of that was because of the pop ups on dial up ...

Hotmail but it only allows 50 emails at a time and up to 300 per day, so I have to send my newsletters in two day periods. :(

AOL is way better now than it ever was! Like I said, I use mine through the internet, not dial-up.

I liked Juno when we had it. Then we switched when we got DSL to having the phone company provider. Way nicer than gmail or yahoo or whatever.

Gmail! Very user friendly, and I have never had any problems...

I've never had any problems with yahoo, and I've had the same email address for 12-13 years.

I have both AOL and yahoo, but prefer aol. I use it for my business. The only time I use yahoo is when I sign up for freebies or things so that if they are going to spam me I can easily delete everything LOL I have have been using both since I got on the interent LOL Ummmmmmm 15 years ago? Maybe 16 LOL Yes aol used to be terrible but now I love it. And I too use it through my cable company internet connection so pay no fee.

I had AT&T and then two weeks ago, they migrated onto AT&T Yahoo! I lost most of my address book from my primary account. I can no longer link between all my email accounts and have to sign in and out of each one to check my mail. I am going to have to recreate my entire PC Customers address book, using less than 100 per group since it refuses to send out emails to groups larger than 100 recipients! It was 150 for AT&T and so that is what transferred on my groups. Somehow they took out part of the addresses...but then it had to have been my fault because they are no problems! WRONG! I really don't have any choice in keeping AT&T without making changes in every single label on my catalogs. I am hoping that if I get the address book recreated, it will stay that way!

I have had hotmail for a long time. Not really thrilled with it - but it has been OK. They make changes with the display that I can't stand, but oh well.

I recently got gmail. Can't stand how it handles "discussions". It is almost like your emails are in "threads". I can't explain it, but I HATE it. So I have a program called Thunderbird to access my gmail account and it is WONDERFUL.

I also have comcast email and that one is probably the better of the accounts just because it is a "paid" account - meaning anyone can't get one, you have to be a customer (paying for a service). I hesitate to use it much since I don't know how long I will use comcast and wouldn't want to have to switch emails.

Have you thought about trying the email through chefsuccess??

i use yahoo for my business and aol for my personal...never had any issues with either one.

I mainly use Gmail and I like it... but I use Outlook mostly. I am not thrilled with the threaded conversations on the Gmail archive, but I do love that I can search keywords and find old stuff. You still have a limit on sending with Gmail accounts (I think it's 100 per day) - that is individually. If you send in batches, you can send more but then you run the risk of it not getting there at all.Alternatively, you could look at getting your own domain and email account... a bit more but you usually have a little more leeway with sending out a bunch of individual emails.

I use hotmail and earthlink. I only have about 150 to send newsletters to so thats not a problem I guess for me (yet).

I think the "threaded conversations" were what I hated most about g-mail when I tried it before. Hated it more when I was unable to sign in after several weeks of inactivity.I am debating something like Outlook (even though I hate the virus potential) or Thunderbird. Thing is, what if my machine dies AGAIN?

I haven't had problems (yet) with Yahoo, just recently added Gmail, and also Chefsuccess. I was told ages ago that I could only send out newsletters 50 at a time because of spam issues with the recipients. Of course, I believed it, so tried it for the longest time. Now I have Joy's Tasty Tidbits so that's not a problem.

I never had one problem in MANY YEARS with Yahoo ... until this year.My e-mail account has been purged THREE TIMES. I was lucky to find my addresses in the trash.Nobody has been able to give me an explanation for this. Some customers are upset because I stopped sending newsletters (like they ever did anything with them before) and others are upset because I added them again by mistake.)I really want assurance that I will not have this happen again.

I spent the last 3 hours adding back all the addresses that disappeared from my AT&T address book after it migrated to AT&T Yahoo. I was trying to go ahead and at least send out the "New Spring Products" flyer from TT and it will only let me send it out once...and since I have 150 contacts, I have to wait another hour to send it out! Sorry but it is almost 2 a.m. and I have my grandkids to take care of tomorrow plus close at least 2 more February shows! I am so frustrated! Hopefully I won't have to do this again!

We use Verizon...I love them!!!

I am very happy with gmail through my thunderbird account - both are free.

I have AOL for my personal email and have had them since 1995, I think. When I started my business I chose gmail. I love gmail and all that it offers - especially the ability to forward mail to another email address. I forward my gmail account to my account here at work so I can always keep up wih my business while working my full time job!

I am still trying to get my "Spring Preview" email out... It is only letting me send "one per hour"! ARGH! It is a real mess! Don't you have to be "invited" to join gmail?

When gmail first started you had to wait for an invitation, but now you just go on and sign up!

Here's what I'm kind of thinking ...

In the past year or so, I have had my e-mail account purged twice ... the one associated with my SBC Yahoo account.

Meanwhile, my 2 other yahoo spam accounts have not ever been touched.

So now ... I am thinking of getting a third yahoo account, transferring everything over to that, and not ever associating it with SBC.

Since I like Yahoo and question whether these other providers will give me what they do, why not stick with them?

Well, that was strange ...

My e-mails are back, and so are my folders.

Guess what's not there? Anything I sent or received in the last 24 hours.

Yahoo was unable to tell me what happened.

The first thing I did was copied all my newsletter addresses to a word file and saved it on my desktop.

I will be "test driving" g-mail and live to see which I like better.

Meanwhile ... if any SBC customer has this problem again, the phone number is:

888-803-2455.

If you like Yahoo, maybe you should consider making it a POP-email account and downloading it to Outlook or Thunderbird. This will save your emails to your computer (your contact list too) so that even if the web version crashes, you still have access to your inbox/sent/contacts.I use Gmail on Outlook and I like the flexibility of checking email on the web when I'm working remotely, but still having it all download to my computer at night when I log in at home.

I have an email account through Verizon, and several email accounts through MSN/Windows Live (was previously MSN). So far they've been fine.

I have received porno messages in my bellsouth.net accounts this week and never before until they became associated with Yahoo! I am NOT happy at all with them. My SIL is going to get me Outlook so I can just use it and make my email boxes more accessible!

Hmmmm ... I'm not sure of the virus potential associated with downloading my e-mail to my machine ... also, my computer locks up easily because it's low on memory.

I established a new e-mail account ... normally I would not post it publicly, but I'm curious to see if I like it ... so if anyone wants to drop me a line, it's chef.diane at live dot com. I think I am going to e-mail myself .. I am not sure I see the potential to search my own e-mail.

This is exactly what I do with Yahoo. Yes, I did pay for it, but to me, it's totally worth it to have my e-mails & contacts on my machine, not to be at my e-mail providers mercy. I haven't had any issues at all & I know that my files are all backed up b/c I do a backup weekly to an external hard drive. I also didn't like the Yahoo interface... it just seemed to clunky. I think I was just used to working in an office with Outlook & when I quit my job & started with PC, I wanted that same convenience.
