That's so cool! Where does she live? You'll have to let us know when that episode is on. I bet you'll have an AWESOME kitchen to do your show in when she reschedules.DebbieJ said:EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER IS REDOING HER HOUSE!!!
She cancelled her show in July and we haven't been able to reschedule. I sure hope she does now!!!!
They come home on Tuesday. I can't wait to hear about it!

The only celeb I've run into is Donny Osmond at Burger King in Honolulu. Thrilling.

I also met Joe Torre (sp?) with the NY Yankees. He was sitting right behind me at a broadway play "Beauty and the Beast". To bad that I am a mets fan! LOL

You shouldda talked to him anyway - he is a really nice guy. He played here during his career (along with his brother) and was always well liked. The Aaron brothers played here and the Alou brothers played here, too. And you thought Philly was the city of brotherly love.letscook04 said:I met Billy Joel and Christy Brinkley at a horse show in the Hamptons on Long Island, about 15 years ago. XHM is so cool. My DH hates it, so I can only watch it when he's out.
ChefBeckyD said:He is a builder, and so he says that he doesn't care how many people are working on the house, there is no way you can build a quality house in less than a week. He says cement, stonework, and drywall all have to cure before the house can be finished

ChefBeckyD said:Ann - that's so funny - my husband hates it too, and if he is in the room when I am watching it - he complains the whole time! He has some "probably" valid points. He is a builder, and so he says that he doesn't care how many people are working on the house, there is no way you can build a quality house in less than a week. He says cement, stonework, and drywall all have to cure before the house can be finished, and he would really like to visit all the houses a year later to see how many problems they are having with the house falling apart.
I try my best to ignore him - I love watching the show and seeing people who have been thru such a hard time get a break!!!
gilliandanielle said:Becky- They really do it in seven days, and to make it worse they do two houses at a time in seven days (with different contractors of course). My DH got the scoop when EHM came to AK for the season premier. When Ty is working on his "secret room" he is really filming at the other location. That is why there are different carpenters and design people on the different episodes. Also, a LOT of the scenes are filmed afterwards. I have been to the Sears in Fairbanks and it IS NOT the Sears that they were "shopping" at on the show. I am also a member of the watch-when-DH-is-busy club!

He held the door for me, and she and I literally stumbled into each other going opposite directions in one of the aisles of the store.

Her mother called me this morning to come do a show!!!
Some of the sponsors didn't come through, so they didn't stock her kitchen.
She needs everything!
OMG OMG OMG
I'm calling my director and NED to see what we can do. The idea so far is to have a huge party, open it up to everyone we know to come get a tour of the house and then take orders for themselves, for them to buy items off the wish list for Melinda, and then Melinda will get host benefits to get the rest. I figure if there are things left after that, we can contact HO to donate.
They also have a fund set up at a bank to help with the mortgage, utilities, property taxes, etc. I guess they didn't pay off her mortgage either, so we'll also take donations for that.
WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!
bbauman07 said:I think it is also the families story that gets them picked. Sick, loss of family member, etc. My friend nominated my family so maybe one day you will see us on there. Our house is SOOOOO small, and we have a crack in our foundation so we have mold growing inside our walls. But since our daughter is buried at the cemetery next door I refuse to move. It is hard enough to live with out her. I can't imagine not being able to take my daily walk to go see her.
As far as "stars" go I have met Yakov Smirnoff, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith (he is a pretty good basketball player), the band 3 days grace (met, and partied with them), Black Eyed Peas, would you like me to keep going? (It's the other job I have)
