Thank you all. I will pass this onto my customer.

Yes, they are in a can and quite common in the "International aisle". A chipotle, by definition, isn't a fresh pepper at all. It's a dried, smoked jalapeño. The only problem with recipes that use just one comes with what do you do with the rest of them in the can?

I put the remaining chipotles and adobo sauce in the food processor (or blender) with some mayo (adjust amount to taste, but anywhere from 1/2 cup to 1.5 cups) and make a delicious spread to put on "Southwestern" burgers along with pepperjack cheese, green chilis and avocado. If you're having fries with your burgers, you won't need ketchup because it makes a yummy dip, too!

Awesome! Now I know TWO meals I'm making this week!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a chipotle pepper in adobo sauce?

A chipotle pepper in adobo sauce is a smoked and dried jalapeño pepper that is rehydrated and canned in a tangy, flavorful sauce made from tomatoes, vinegar, garlic, and spices. This combination gives the peppers a rich, smoky flavor with a hint of sweetness and heat.

How can I use chipotle peppers in adobo sauce in my cooking?

You can use chipotle peppers in adobo sauce to add depth and smokiness to various dishes. They work well in sauces, marinades, soups, stews, and even as a seasoning for meats and vegetables. Just chop them up and mix them into your recipes to enhance the flavor.

Are chipotle peppers in adobo sauce spicy?

Yes, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce do have a level of heat, but the spiciness can vary depending on the brand and the specific pepper. Generally, they provide a moderate heat that can be balanced out with other ingredients in your dish.

Can I use just the adobo sauce without the peppers?

How should I store leftover chipotle peppers in adobo sauce?
