I have a customer looking for a recipe that was in a seasons best a long time ago. It was in the scalloped bread tube and had strawberries and cream cheese and such cool whip in it. Any ideas?

Yes it's called Frosted Strawberry Banana Salad and is on the use and care/recipe card. The use and care cards used to have several recipes for each product (the bread tube had this one plus 6 others printed on card stock the perfect size for your recipe box...wish they still did it that way) Anyway...here it is:

Frosted Strawberry Banana Salad
1 pkg (8oz) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup crushed pineapple, well drained
1 pkg (10oz) frozen strawberries with juice, thawed
1 medium banana, sliced, quartered
1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed

Combine cream cheese and sugar. Add pineapple, strawberries & banana. Fold in whipped topping.
Fold 15 inch square sheet of parchment paper into fourths. Place parchment paper between bottom of bread tube and lid. Completely fill bread tube with mixture. Place remaining top cap on top of Bread tube. Freeze standing UPRIGHT 4-6 hours or until firm.
Remove bread tube from freezer. Wrap warm damp cloth around bread tube for 1-2 minutes to loosen. Slide mixture onto 9x13 cutting board. Slice into 16 slices using serrated bread knife. Serve immediately.
Yield: 16 servings

Enjoy!

Thank you so much!!! I don't have the bread tubes. I wish they still did the recipe cards too.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients do I need for the Strawberries and Cream Cheese recipe?

To make the Strawberries and Cream Cheese in a Scalloped Bread Tube, you will need fresh strawberries, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a loaf of bread (preferably a soft bread like white or brioche). You may also want some butter for greasing the bread tube.

How do I prepare the cream cheese filling?

To prepare the cream cheese filling, start by softening the cream cheese at room temperature. Then, in a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy. Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more powdered sugar if needed.

What is the best way to assemble the dish in the scalloped bread tube?

To assemble the dish, first, slice the loaf of bread into thick slices. Then, spread a layer of the cream cheese mixture on one side of each slice. Place a few slices of fresh strawberries on top of the cream cheese, and then stack the slices in the scalloped bread tube, alternating layers of cream cheese and strawberries. Make sure to pack it tightly for even cooking.

How long should I bake the Strawberries and Cream Cheese in the oven?

Bake the assembled dish in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the filling is heated through. Keep an eye on it to prevent over-browning.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the cream cheese filling and assemble the dish ahead of time. Cover it tightly and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Just remember to let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes before placing it in the oven to ensure even cooking.
