Total value of new products is under $500 so not too much to report. That's why those who sold over $6,000 in SAT got 5% PC bucks.

As has been said, not too much being retired - the wovens, the easy adjustable measuring cup and spoon, changed the gift packages and reduced the # of half-price options to 4.

Other products restyled - cookie press to include a potato ricer disc, kitchen shears, adjustable measuring spoons...

Added a 4.5" serrated forged cutlery knife, ice bucket to match quick stir pitchers, cocktail shaker to match, dots martini glasses (most expensive new product - $44.50 for a set of 4), 2-cup prep bowl set, measuring cup set, easy conversions magnet (attendee gift), 2 sauces (Thai Peanut and Maple Honey Mustard), Creole Rub (we got a sample), cookie sheet (excited about this one!!), digital pocket thermometer replaces our old pocket thermometer, 5" strainer, stainless mesh colanders (3), snowmen app. plates, snowmen rect. platter, beaded cheese knife, beaded cheese plane, beaded cake/pie server, and made open stock the stainless cookware that's on the Aug. host special.

See my post under the recipes thread for the new cookbooks and theme shows.

Wish y'all could have been there!

snowmen plates, measuring cups, cookie press #2

These are not my pictures but someone elses who was kind enough to pass them along to me as I was unable to go due to being 9 months pregnant and those pesky airlines not allowing me to fly. I am indebted to her, thank you!

We did not use the cookie press, but watched a demo. Looked better than the old one. I know people prefer this type versus the gun type. This has a retro look to it.

Oh, there is a magnet for your fridge that has conversions on it and a Creole Rub. Dots Martini glasses, a dots shaker (for drinks).

New measuring cups - out with the adjustable ones, in with a stack of them. The handles snap together so they aren't all over your drawer.

OH! the new RUTH trivet is oblong so the DCB will sit on it!

I liked the concept of the adjustable ones, but I found them to be unreliable. After only a few washes they were already leaking on me! I found myself constantly searching for the mini easy read measuring cup that I thought I would never use.

gilchrist_pchef
07-18-2009, 03:35 PM
Okay, I don't know about you, but my whole sell on the adjustable measuring cups was that you don't have all those cups. You can get regular measuring cups at walmart.

W/ the new measuring cups, in addition to the typical cups they are including a 2/3 and 3/4 cup and a leveler that all snap together. They're really tightly snapped together. The twist on the cookie press is awesome! There is no back vs front to the discs, and they added a ricer disk so you can use it to rice potatos!

Delicious new theme show recipes - Comfort Food (Loaded Baked Potato Chowder ($1/serving) and Ham and Cheese Calzone)
Sweet Favorites (Mock Lemon Meringue Cake and Mini Carrot Cake Cups which is a new consultant recipe)

The thing that's great about the nesting cups is that you can use your 1/2 cup one for one thing, your 3/4 cup for another, etc and not have to keep rinsing it out. I love my Tupperware ones and have always felt guilty holding onto them. At shows, I felt crippled w/o having a dry measuring cup. (I don't own the easy adj. one) I also like to pack the brown sugar and that sounds hard to do in the adjustable one. I love that I can use them to scoop ingredients, too. And they are clear so you can see if you have a big pocket of air in there.

I have a Mirro brand cookie press that I love and use every year at Christmas time. I never got the PC one cause I had the Mirro one. But I am definitely buying our new one and throwing away the Mirro one, because the PC one is REALLY nice! I love that it's that white aluminum whatever stuff, instead of metallic silver raw aluminum like my Mirro one. It always drives me nuts how excess dough scoots around the plunger and I would try to re-use it, but it always turned grey colored from interacting w/ the aluminum/metal whatever it is. So ours won't have that problem. The design is really nice. You control the amount. You can twist slowly, too and control what you are doing.

The new apron and tablecloth match the snowman plates.

I do have one small gripe about the snowman plates - they coordinate with the tree plates from last year. It would have been nice to know that they were making them a "series" - meaning - I would have maybe sold a lot more last year if I could have said they would be coming out with different ones every year. Before you say maybe they didn't know - I call bs on that - they already know what the products for NEXT fall are, or at least the concepts. I don't think I sold one set of those plates - but I have several customers who may have been interested if it was something they could have collected. Now, I know exactly what's going to happen - people are going to want these snowmen ones and then want me to go find the ones from last year - LOL. Maybe they'll show up on the outlet?!?!

My camera died, and so I wasn't able to take all the pictures I wanted. I'll have to see what I have and try to figure out how to upload them here. But the apron is a Christmas apron. Gosh my memory is bad and there wasn't a picture of it in the CN they gave us. But I remember it was green and had something on it (helpful, huh ) I'm thinking it was a snowman or something. It reminded me of coordinating w/ the style of the pictures on the dessert plates.

I am so excited about the new Shears!! I LOVE my white ones and was so disappointed when they discontinued them that I made sure I would have PLENTY for my lifetime. I am glad to see they are coming out with new restyled ones. I do not like the current ones at all!!!
I LOVE the mesh colander set. Very professional looking!!
I totally dig the 4.5" serrated knife. I have been hoping for a serrated knife from PC for awhile now. I am very excited they have one coming out!!
The snowmen are great!! MUCH better than last year!!
Not a fan of the dots but I dig the Martini glasses. They are pretty cute!
I get that they want to coordinate the easy read measuring cups and other tools, but I really didn't need another extra set of the adjustable spoons!! LOL...yard sale!!!!
I do like the 2 cup prep bowls and I am into the new measuring cups. I use the measure-all for everything at home and the easy read at all of my shows, but I still have an old TW set of measuring cups in the drawer. Not sure where I put my easy adjustable measuring cup and spoon, I never did like them, I think they are buried in my office somewhere. I quit showing them a long time ago, so to me it is no loss.
I am happy about the new cookie press. But I can already hear the people with the old one complaining and asking for a "trade-in". LOL!!!

Not too many things new but some pretty darn good ones!!

Hold on a minute...they changed the knife block itself? I'm not sure about that. They didn't mention that, that I caught anyway. I thought when they introduced the new knife it was said that it'll be great to add to our knife blocks. I thought their discontinuing the knife block set was because it was a set--hence they need to include now the new knife and the restyled shears. They didn't say the knife block itself was getting discontinued and a new one coming out. I'm pretty sure the holes in the knife block are suitable for the new shears.

And I just compared the new catalog to the old one and don't see any mention of a new knife block.

It was solid green with a trim around the outside (think it had polka dots on the outside trim and ties...can't remember that for sure) and then on the pockets were the snowmen that will be on the plates/platter. The tablecloth that attendees could earn is the same green with the snowmen on it and the PC logo.

Very basic and simple yet very cute. IMO the Snowmen were designed to look like they are painted on.

For snowmen lovers out there like myself, all I can say to it is "WAHOO!" :D

I see myself liking the digital thermometer; however, since the price is going up by $5.00, that will throw a kink to those consultants (including myself) who offer the free thermometer with the purchase of a DCB bundle.

If the recipe card set has several DCB recipes, we could use those instead of the thermometer as the free gift.

Isn't it a little wierd to discontinue the knife block? Luckily, I just ordered one for myself....

The Knife Block Set is not discontinued or redesigned. It just has a new product # because it contains the new Professional Kitchen Shears.

It's the same block--nothing has changed--the set just has the new shears in it.

Thanks, Amanda. You are kind and quick:D! Am I correct that we will be able to purchase the new product samples for 1/2 off?

Shucks...:blushing: You're very welcome. :D

We'll have to see how they bundle things together. We do get to buy samples at 50% off, but sometimes they group certain items together so if you have a couple things in mind, you might have to get a few that maybe you weren't necessarily intending to get. They do put some things by themselves that we can get, but there will be groupings. And it did vary from the SAT groupings that were set up last time, so I'm curious what they do. I have a huge wish list for this season! :D

This is correct. The block is the same, the set just has the new shears and the new serrated knife.

Everyone I know likes the adjustable one....I owned TW ones that hooked together and still feel they were a pain and took up too much space. I guess everything old it new again....

I agree, that was my whole selling point on them! They replaced the 4+ measuring cups and 5+ measuring spoons in your drawer! I'm totally bummed! I had alot of people buy them!

Also, someone said we can send the old cookie press in for the new one? I'm a bit confused. I just bought one using PC dollars with my 4th month KE order. How would an exchange work on that? Should I just return it (it's still in the box, never been opened)?

I am bummed about the measuring cups and spoons too. One of my big selling points was that they replaced several with one. :(

I am so excited about the new cookie press having a potato ricer it is probably the only reason I will get it.

The snowmen plates are really cute too.

Excited to get a new digital thermometer had one before but lost it when our house flooded. Does anyone know if it is like the old one w/ a timmer?

The new digital pocket thermometer is not like the old digital thermometer (that had the wire connecting from inside your oven with it in your meat to the display out on your counter.) It's just a pocket thermometer w/ a digital display of the temperature. There is still a reference list on the sleeve of it, and you can push a little button on the top to switch it from F to C.

It has 9 knives:
Bread, Chef's, 7" Santoku, 5" Santoku, 5" utility, 5" boning, 4 1/2" serrated, 3 1/2 in paring and 3" petite paring

Plus, the block, honing tool, and professional shears. It now costs $415

No...I wasn't suggesting that we could all send in our old cookie press for the new one. Someone said they had just ordered one...if that is the case then they could send it back within the 30 days and then order the new one. That is what I would do...if I hadn't used it. If I had used it I would keep it and later order the new one. However, if you use it once and don't like it you can send it back within 30 days.

Now...what about the martini glasses? Are they dainty and fragile like the wine glasses? I didn't order the wine glasses because I thought they were too fragile. I am hoping the martini glasses are thicker. I don't drink at all, but thought they would be cute for desserts...or dips.

Hmmmmm.....

I'm glad they are restyling the cookie press and kitchen shears .... I get a lot of complaints on those two items. Now if they would only make the egg slicer more sturdy ...

How, oh how, does one RICE a potato?

I'll have to tweak the DCB bundle ... I don't throw in a free pocket thermometer but I might throw in something else and replace the salad choppers with those two.

I got three sets of bamboo toaster tongs in my $10 surprise box ... maybe I'll toss one in with every ice bucket sold.

$50 for every recruit from July 1 - August 31. If you have more than 4 recruits, you get a bonus gift (choose between watches, handbag, ear-rings, video camera, etc). If you recruit 8, you get 2 bonus gifts.

Each recruit in that time period and does $1250 in first 30 days, will get 2 stoneware free.

Is it four or more than four - just wondering where to set my goal. at 4 or 5. Thanks

When I was bartering with my suprise boxes I was willing to give up ANYTHING (including stoneware) for those tongs. I LOVED mine that I got 11yrs ago and wanted a new pair (as the ex has them). The new bamboo ones just don't cut it (IMO) for down in the toaster. I jumped with joy when I found someone willing to part with 2 Tongs, now I have a reserve. :D

For the first 4 recruits, you get one gift. For the second set of 4, you get another gift.

Someone, and I'm pretty sure it was Lisa Flynn at the new director's reception, told one of my cluster members that they had worked on tongs but the design didn't come together right. Or something to that effect. So they know we need it, just didn't get it worked out in time.

Good to know. The small bamboo tongs work well for somethings but I just prefer how thin and petite the old tongs were for the toater. New ones feel so cumbersome to me in comparison to the more delicate slice of bread. JMO. Thanks for the info!

Or if you meant tongs for the icebucket (oops!) good to know that too! I'm not at all excited about the ice bucket or shaker, nor do I think my guests will be. I'm not in that type of market. My guests are more the beer drinking type and and not martini's or anything in a shaker. Heck I'd bet most the people in my neck of the woods don't even use a glass for their beer....Hello Redneck Country! :D

The martini glasses are cute....just a bit thicker than the wine glasses, but not much. For the non-drinkers, they are adorable for appetizers or desserts. They have a pic of ceviche served in the martini glasses, and it looks great. Much more versatile than the wine glasses.

The shaker can also be used for protein shakes, mixing powdered drinks, making non alcoholic mixes.

I would love tumblers in the dots pattern.

babywings76

They did a demo of using it as a potato ricer. What you do is cut and boil your potatoes like normal for making mashed potatoes. Then you just put the cooked potatoes in the cookie press and crank them out. They'll be perfect for smooth, creamy mashed potatoes. After the guy was done getting them through the ricer blade, he just added milk and butter and then used the masher and put out mashed potatoes super easily and fast.

KellyTheChef

When you rice a potato, you cook it first (like you are going to mash them) and then push them through something with very small holes. It REALLY makes fine pieces...and then you just fold in your milk, butter, salt and pepper GENTLY and you have the best mashed potatoes! Here is a link....
