I bought a pork loin, not tenderloin, knowing that there is a difference, but I want to bake it in the dcb in the over but I’m not good (at all:cry:) with trying to figure out how long to cook it for and at what temp. We are going to have BBQ sandwich’s and I don't know if I should make the bbq sauce and put it on there and have them both cook together or what i should do. We have soccer tonight so I wanted it in the oven cooking so it's ready to eat when we get home. PLEASE help me with any info. It's 4 lbs or so but I’m going to be cutting it in half and freezing the other half. So any help would be WONDERFUL!!!!! Thank you!:blushing:

I think 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees. And I would coat it in bbq sauce - or just the rub itself - but make sure you have some reserved to add in after you shred the meat and if people want to add some directly on their sandwiches.

a pork loin that big will take about 1.5 hrs. at least that's how long I've cooked mine in the DCB

Thank you. Do you think I can do it at a lower temp for longer? Were going to be gone at the game for about 1 1/2 hours so i'd like it to be cooking while were gone. What do you think?

probably. Just be sure to check the temp of the pork when you get back to make sure it's done.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to prepare a pork loin for baking with BBQ rub?

To prepare a pork loin for baking with BBQ rub, start by trimming any excess fat from the meat. Pat the pork loin dry with paper towels, then apply a generous amount of your favorite BBQ rub all over the surface. For best results, let the seasoned pork loin sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat. You can also marinate it overnight in the refrigerator for enhanced flavor.

What temperature should I set my oven to for cooking pork loin with BBQ sauce?

The ideal oven temperature for cooking a pork loin with BBQ sauce is 350°F (175°C). This temperature allows the pork to cook evenly and ensures that it remains juicy and tender. You can also start at a higher temperature, around 425°F (220°C), for the first 15-20 minutes to create a nice crust, then reduce the temperature to 350°F for the remainder of the cooking time.

How long does it take to cook a pork loin in the oven with BBQ rub?

The cooking time for a pork loin in the oven typically ranges from 20 to 25 minutes per pound at 350°F (175°C). For example, a 3-pound pork loin would take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to cook. Always use a meat thermometer to check for doneness; the internal temperature should reach at least 145°F (63°C) for safe consumption.

Should I cover the pork loin while it cooks in the oven?

It is not necessary to cover the pork loin while it cooks in the oven. Leaving it uncovered allows the BBQ rub to form a nice crust and helps the meat to brown. However, if you notice that the pork is browning too quickly, you can loosely cover it with aluminum foil for the last part of the cooking process to prevent it from drying out.

When should I apply BBQ sauce to the pork loin during cooking?

For the best flavor and texture, apply BBQ sauce to the pork loin during the last 15-20 minutes of cooking. This allows the sauce to caramelize and create a sticky glaze without burning. If you prefer a more intense flavor, you can baste the pork with sauce a couple of times during the final cooking stage.
