I want to make the fajitas for dinner, do I need to defrost the chicken breasts first, or can I just do it at once and adjust the cooking time?

We did it with frozen chicken breasts once - I used the seasoning and the veggies just as described and cooked them a bit longer (maybe 5 extra minutes) and then let them sit covered a good bit longer (maybe 15 minutes?) while we got the rest of the dinner ready.

Thanks for asking this. I was going to do the same thing for dinner tomorrow!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to thaw frozen chicken breasts for fajitas?

The best way to thaw frozen chicken breasts is to place them in the refrigerator overnight. If you need to thaw them more quickly, you can use the cold water method by sealing the chicken in a leak-proof bag and submerging it in cold water for about an hour, changing the water every 30 minutes.

Can I cook frozen chicken breasts directly in a skillet for fajitas?

While it is possible to cook frozen chicken breasts directly in a skillet, it is recommended to thaw them first for even cooking. Cooking from frozen may result in unevenly cooked chicken, which can be unsafe to eat.

What seasonings work best for frozen chicken breasts in fajitas?

For fajitas, a combination of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika works wonderfully. You can also add lime juice and salt for extra flavor. Feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste preferences.

How long should I cook thawed chicken breasts for fajitas?

Thawed chicken breasts should be cooked for about 6-8 minutes per side on medium-high heat in a skillet, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. If you're using a grill, it may take about 7-10 minutes per side depending on the thickness of the chicken.

Can I marinate frozen chicken breasts for fajitas?

It's best to marinate chicken breasts after they have been thawed. Marinating frozen chicken can prevent the flavors from penetrating properly. Once thawed, you can marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours for maximum flavor.
