Hi Steph!!! There is a recipe in the South Beach Diet Cookbook that uses mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes and it's yummy!:love:Chef Stephanie Petersen said:I know this sounds weird, but it is cool... I use cooked coliflower chopped up in place of potatoes in my potato salad recipe. It is much better for my blood sugar and great source of fiber! My kids eat it too! Just a tip that is pretty off subject, but fun!
Thanks Mary! I might just have to try it like this. I've always done it by cutting up the cauliflower. I think that this way will be good too because I think that it will stay crunchier, which I like! Can't stand really mushy cauliflower or broccoli!:yuck:CookingwithMary said:Remove the tough outer leaves, cut a deep "X" on the bottom of the stem.
I add water (less than a cup) and microwave.
Every micro is different but I start by using the "bake potato" setting for 2 potatoes, test, maybe zap it again, and let it sit to finish.
Yes, you can cook a whole head of cauliflower in a Micro Cooker. The Micro Cooker is designed to steam vegetables efficiently, and cauliflower fits well inside. Just ensure the lid is properly secured to trap steam for even cooking.
Cooking a whole head of cauliflower in a Micro Cooker typically takes about 8 to 10 minutes on high power in the microwave. Cooking times may vary depending on the size of the cauliflower and the wattage of your microwave.
Yes, you should add a small amount of water to the Micro Cooker when cooking cauliflower. About 1/2 to 1 cup of water is usually sufficient to create steam, which helps cook the cauliflower evenly.
Absolutely! You can season the cauliflower before cooking it in the Micro Cooker. Just be sure to add any oil or seasoning after cooking if you prefer to avoid sogginess, as the steam will help retain the natural flavor of the cauliflower.
Yes, cooking cauliflower in a Micro Cooker is generally healthier than boiling it. Steaming helps retain more nutrients compared to boiling, where some vitamins and minerals can leach into the water. The Micro Cooker allows for quick cooking while preserving the cauliflower's texture and flavor.
