Anyone familiar with the area?
We're going to be flying in for a wedding in a few months...
 
Very nice coastal area.I believe Santa Ynez wine country is not far.
 
You'll love it. Don't just stick to Solvang--you can see the whole place in a couple of hours. Go to the little town of Santa Ynez, and definitely take an hour to go over the hill to Santa Barbara for at least 1/2 a day. It's one of our favorite places to go. The town of Lompoc, about 1/2 an hour from Solvang, has beautiful flowers this time of year. And Buellton, also very close, has a Pea Soup Andersen's restaurant that is good. Save your calories--Solvang is known for Aeble Skeevers (round, ball shaped pancakes with raspberry sauce) and chocolate--lots and lots of chocolate. Have fun!

Oh My Gosh. My sister-in-law (DH's sister) lives in Solvang. Where are you staying? She runs a bed and breakfast in Solvang.

DH and I extended our PC San Francisco trip to visit her. It's a beautiful area. Lots of grapes. If you like wine, you'll have plenty of places to visit.
 
There was an amazing restaurant that we went to while we were there. It is an old stage coach stop. It's between Solvang and Santa Barbara (which is a beautiful trip.

LOVE that area! Solvang is so cute. Yes, it is wine country. Santa Ynez has a few winerys. The wild flowers are all blooming right now because we just got so much rain... gorgeous yellow, orange and purple blanket along the roads.
 
Rent the movie SIDEWAYS... most of it was filmed in Solvang.

I used to live in Santa Barbara (during college) and visited Solvang once. It's cute, reminds me of hmm what would you call it, Dutch town maybe, hence the name perhaps??? SB is BEAUTIFUL- if you have the time to visit! Nice Beach, ritzy community so to speak. I love that place!
