I am thinking of putting something together for my son's preschool. I was thinking of just having a catalog type fundraiser. My concern is that the parents won't be able to figure the sales tax and shipping. Has anyone else ran across this problem before, if so how do you handle it.
Thanks

If you look in the fileson this web site there is a great flyer, for adding up outside orders , it is breif but to the point, iam not sure who's it is but it was just posted last week, i have allready put it in all my host folders ! It is GREAT !!! :)

That's a great idea. If you are worried about customers not adding up the totals right, type up instructions on how to do it and attach those to the order forms. Hope that helps! Good Luck!

Here's the one I use and I think I've posted it in the past. You just figure out what tax rate it is and write or type that in when you print them up. You could even shrink it and put 4 on a page, then cut them up and staple to each catalog. Or you can have them call you if they don't want to worry about figuring it out. Obviously just change the info to yours! :) Your food and S&H tax might be different from mine, too.

Your right Danielle - someone did post a flyer they use for instructions on adding up orders!! Look under files at the top. It should be under there. You may have to change the tax rates on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the key steps to organizing a preschool fundraiser?

To organize a preschool fundraiser, start by setting clear goals for the amount of money you want to raise. Next, choose a fundraising method that resonates with your community, such as product sales, events, or online campaigns. Form a committee to help plan and execute the fundraiser, and create a timeline to keep everyone on track. Promote the fundraiser through newsletters, social media, and flyers to maximize participation. Finally, ensure you have a clear plan for collecting funds and distributing products.

How can I handle tax implications for a preschool fundraiser?

To manage tax implications, first determine if your fundraiser qualifies as a tax-exempt event under IRS regulations. If your preschool is a registered nonprofit, donations may be tax-deductible for contributors. Keep accurate records of all transactions, including income and expenses, and consult with a tax professional to understand your obligations. Additionally, consider providing donors with receipts for their contributions to ensure transparency and compliance.

What shipping challenges might arise during a preschool fundraiser?

Shipping challenges can include delays, high costs, and the logistics of distributing products to participants. To mitigate these issues, plan ahead by selecting a reliable shipping provider and considering bulk shipping options to reduce costs. Clearly communicate shipping timelines to participants and provide updates throughout the process. Additionally, consider local pickup options to minimize shipping altogether.

How can I ensure that my preschool fundraiser is compliant with local regulations?

To ensure compliance with local regulations, start by checking with your local government or school district for any specific rules regarding fundraising activities. Obtain any necessary permits or licenses required for your event. Familiarize yourself with regulations related to sales tax, especially if you are selling products. It may also be beneficial to consult with a legal advisor to ensure that all aspects of your fundraiser adhere to local laws.

What are some effective ways to promote my preschool fundraiser?

Effective promotion strategies include utilizing social media platforms to reach a wider audience, creating engaging flyers to distribute within the community, and leveraging email newsletters to keep parents informed. Hosting informational meetings or events can also generate excitement and encourage participation. Collaborating with local businesses for sponsorships or partnerships can further enhance visibility and support for your fundraiser.
