If you look on page 1 of this thread, the words from the past few featured songs are posted, and they're all Disney.

I wonder if it's so that there's less likely to be anything someone could consider objectionable in the lyrics or about the original performer.

I think part of the reason they use Disney songs, is that Disney likes to have positive messages in their movies about going after your dreams, therefore their songs kind of go hand in hand with PC what the point of conference is. Also, it might have something to do with licensing and maybe they have some sort of an agreement... I personally love the Disney songs, as I love the cheesy Disney movies, as most of the time there aren't any really "bad" people in the movie, and I'm a dork like that who will gladly go see a Disney tenny-bopper movie any day :D

I don't think it's just because they are Disney, but they have life meaning lyrics. If you listen to High School Musical 1 they talk about taking a stand and not going with the status quo. Be anything you want to be. They can take on meaning for many of us. (FYI- My kids listen to all these).
