I got a kick out of Wendover, myself. Wendover is kinda small, bleak and has a few crummy motels (that are full only during Speed Week, I'm sure) and a few gas stations, but as soon as you cross the big white line on the main street that shows the difference between Wendover, Utah and West Wendover, Nevada, you cross over into Neon City. What a contrast!

I don't live anywhere near these... but in FLA, there are:

****roach Road (NEVER would I live there - YUCK!)
Palmetto Lane
Yucca Lane
Lady Bug Lane

I do live near Red Bug Lake Road. But, those other ones... no thanks.... :)

and I know in Arkansas there is a Lizard County.... my aunt and uncle used to live there. :)

Have fun everyone!

Oh wait, here's more...

You know you're from Indiana when....

You know several people who have hit a deer.

You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.

You know what's knee-high by the Fourth of July.

You end your sentences with an unnecessary preposition. Example: "Where's my coat at?" or "Who are you gonna go with?"

All the festivals across the state are named after a fruit, vegetable, or grain.

Pop is a drink, not a sound.

You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked.

You consider being called a "Pork Queen" an honor.

You carry jumper cables in your car.

Hey, I just love this place!:D

Some of these sound like North Carolina

They do don't they Catherine! Where is Lucama - I thought I knew every town in our state!!!

In Alaska, where I'm originally from there is a small bar/gas station halfway between Anchorage and Fairbanks called Skinny Dicks Hallfway Inn. They do sell T-shirts I believe. And when we were stationed in Arkansas...we used to pass the town of Toad Suck everytime we went to visit my grandparents, who lived in RatCliffe

There is a restaurant in Flintstone, MD (or near by) call Roadside Kill Cafe.

It sells regular home cooked food and it is delicious but they have a menu for people - first timers because they do remember if you were there before or not, that has weird menu items, like pretty possium plate, squirel nutty cake, etc. it is a very nice cafe, when you first get there you will think that you are in Mabury RFD

We've got
Moccosins Swamp
Swamp Road
Turkey Trot #1
Turkey Trot #2
Neck Road
Neck B Road

my old house was on Sandy Dyke Lane, and this intersected with Stubbins Lane....LOL...both in the UK!

Yes, I had to bring back this old thread back to the top, I got this email today from my Aunt and I thought it would go perfectly with this thread.....

THE RULES OF TEXAS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. Pull your droopy pants up. You look like an idiot.

2. Let's get this straight; it's called a "gravel road." I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way.

3. They are cattle &; oil wells. That's what they smell like to you. They smell like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? I-20 and I-10 go east and west, I-35 goes north and south. Pick one.

4. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $250,000 cotton strippers that are driven only 3 weeks a year.

5. So every person in every pickup waves. It's called being friendly. Try to understand the concept.

6. If that cell phone rings while a bunch of doves are coming in, we WILL shoot it out of your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time.

7. Yeah, we eat catfish &; crawfish. You really want sushi &; caviar? It's available at the corner bait shop.

8. The "Opener" refers to the first day of deer season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November.

9. We open doors for women. That is applied to all women, regardless of age.

10. No, there's no "vegetarian special" on the menu. Order steak. Or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham &; turkey.

11. When we fill out a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables, and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and Picante Sauce! ! Oh, yeah.... We don't care what you folks in Cincinnati call that stuff you eat... IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!! Chili was born and bred in San Antonio.... and real chili never met a tomato!

12. You bring "coke" into my house, it better be brown, wet, and served over ice. You bring "Mary Jane" into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair.

13. College and High School Football is as important here as the Lakers and the Knicks, and a dang site more fun to watch.

14. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards -- it spooks the fish.

15. Colleges? Try Texas Tech, Baylor, Texas A&;M or University of Texas. They come outta there with an education plus a love for God and country, and they still wave at passing pickups when they come for the holidays.

16 We have more folks in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, than any other state, so "Don't Mess with Texas," If you do, you will get whipped by the best.

17. Always remember what our great governor Sam Houston once said: "Texas can make it without the United States, but the United States can't make it without Texas!" Texas is the greatest state ever!! If you are from Texas you are one bad hombre!!! If you do not repost this in 10 min. you are not a true Texan!!!!!!

I don't agree with that... I quite like Skyline Chili. There's even a science to eating it. :)

I totally have to disagree w/ the chili one also! How can you make chili w/out a tomato? lol

there a funny town in rhode island or conn cant remember which it

Killingsworth

Love the Kansas ones; My family and I lived in Johnson County for a short time - boy those Johnson County people are impressed with themselves :) And the first time we heard the tornado sirens go off, we ran outside to see if we could find it!

I also lived in Connecticut, off of Aunt Patty's Lane East. And you know it, there is also an Aunt Patty's Lane West. Legend has it that Aunt Patty's was a "gentlemen's club" of old, and as the wives would approach from the East, the husbands would leave off the West!
