Discover the Beauty of Punta Cana: A Must-Visit Destination

Beach cove sounds great! I haven't been to the DR, but I have been to a few different beaches in the US and they are all really beautiful. Not sure if you are familiar with Cancun, but it is also a really popular place to go and has a lot of resorts. I would recommend doing a bit of research before you go so you know what is safe to do and where to go.

Not me- but looks fabulous!

I always can a punt ona 4th down outside the 35 yard line.

Dom Rep is on my list! Punta Cana is just resorts though. I'd visit a bit, but I bet there are other great places on the island!

A friend went said its not safe to leave the resorts. The resorts are great though.

Ask me this same question next year! :D

Been there, and various other spots in the DR. Punta Cana is essentially a beautiful long long beach where there have been resorts created. The surrounding area is un-interesting to say the least(geographically). The airport was built by the airlines/hotel interests specifically to service the Punta Cana resort development. It is a very purpose developed area for tourists. You do need to be careful anywhere in the DR, if you choose to go I would recommend organized trips from resort if you are not a seasoned visitor. That being said we enjoyed our time in Punta Cana however it is not an area we would go back to unless it was a spectacular deal but that is our taste. If you are looking for a week or so of sun, sand and water it is idealic on the resorts. Be warned however some resorts open up to the local pop. on weekends and depending on how "liberal" thinking a woman you are you may find it a little annoying. Even my husband found he was uncomfortable to some degree. There was definately a culture clash. If you want any more info let me know, hope this helps

June great info any info would be good hubby looked it up and said it did not look or sound safe either

Dina, Safety is not an issue if you are on the resort, or even along the beach where the resorts are. Most people who have experienced issues have done so because they go wandering on their own and find they are out of there element. We have visited Puerto Plata, Samana, Punta Cana and never had any issues. You simply have to exercise some common sense and listen to the advice of the rep at the resort. The one thing I would definately warn you against if you are a first time visitor is going off resort on your own, or signing up for excursions that are not registered with the resort. We have had a number of great vacations in the DR at various locations and we have reached a point where we do go off resort unescorted and poke around you just need to exercise a little vigalince. All that being said if you are looking for sun, sand and fun you would almost certainly have a great time. If you want to PM me please feel free. It may be one of the resorts I've visited and there are some finer points you would benefit from knowing. Hubby and I are actually flying off on Thurs. for a Caribean week

If you want super safe go to Disney World :)I haven't been to Dom Rep, but I have been to over 55 countries and I can tell you that if you do your research, don't get drunk, don't go into dark alleys, don't walk on the beach at night, don't trust everyone you meet, don't put your wallet in your back pocket and be friendly, then most places on earth are safe enough to have a great time :)

Greg, have done DR a number of times and my fav is the Samana Penninusla, specifically Feb/Mar as the whales visit Samana Bay and they are spectacular also the countryside is incredible and the north coast has some fab beaches.
