Director Staying Home With 4 Kids: A Pity Party?

In summary, as a working parent of 4 kids, the speaker acknowledges the challenges of balancing work with caregiving. They suggest setting a schedule, prioritizing tasks, and having a support system to stay organized and efficient. In terms of productivity, the speaker involves their kids in tasks and sets designated work hours and breaks. Is anyone else here? I fell on Thursday, badly spraining my ankle and ended up staying home from conference. So instead of getting all the great training, I am hobbling around trying to take care of 4 kids 6 and under. Can you tell I am having a pity party?? Anyone else here and dying to here the announcements????????

I'm stuck in Japan & didn't get to go either. :(

Here's what I've found so far on Chef Success:

Ok...did the treasure hunt..prize was a set of th d/c purple tiles runner, place nats, napkins and rings. : ( heavy to tote around. Nice lanyards for EVERYONE, nice metal years of service pins for EVERYONE. Postcard prize was a necklace with a "BE AMAZING" pendent. Tote bags are black about the same as usual. Nothing earthshattering yet..
I'm with you on nothing earth shattering yet. It doesn't have the same feel to me as it did in the years past. Was greatly disappointed with the bag this year. We got a catalog tote last year and this one isn't as nice. I know everyone will think I am being a grumpy pants but everyone that is with me feels the same way. I hope general session blows me away tomorrow....

I'll be heading downtown tomorrow but coming home each night, so I'll update you!

Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear about your injury and having to miss the conference. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to take care of four young children while dealing with a sprained ankle. It's totally understandable that you're feeling a bit disappointed and maybe even a little left out. But just remember, you are still a valuable member of our team and there will always be more opportunities for training and announcements. In the meantime, maybe you can find some creative ways to keep the kids entertained while you rest and recover. Sending you lots of positive vibes and hoping for a speedy recovery for you! Hang in there!
