Rescuing My Rusted Forged Knife After 45 Days

In summary, if you notice discoloration or rough texture on the blade of your forged knife, it is likely rusted. It is not recommended to use a rusted knife as it can affect the quality of your food and lead to health hazards. The best way to remove rust is by using a rust remover specifically designed for kitchen knives. It is important to regularly clean and maintain your knife to prevent rusting, and you can also take steps to prevent rust in the future by avoiding water and regularly oiling the blade.

So, I did not follow directions and put my forged knife in the dish washer.: It's now rusted. I have only had it for 45 days. Is there anything I can do? I can't keep bringing this one to shows with me. I do plan on buying the entire block set this month, but hate to see that knife go to waste.

You can use stainless steel cleaner to see if you can remove the rust with it.

try bartenders friend. that helps if i have any stains on my knives.

Bartenders friend for sure....I don't put mine in the dishwasher, but had to return my first one because not only did it rust, but divots in the blade showed up. My second one rusts if I do not dry it 100% (which is annoying to me based on my Henckel set that doesn't have that issue)

Try a baking soda paste and see if that works.
