I just received an email from one of my customers. She says that she is having trouble getting her cookie press to work. She says she "cannot get the cookies to come out of the press...and when they do, they are disfigured". I have never used the cookie press, plus I'm a new consultant so I am not sure of what tips to give her. Any suggestions?

It takes a lot of practice and patience. I found that if you twist it one and a half times then wait a few seconds before lifting the press, you get a nice cookie.

Sounds like the dough is too wet ... mine did that when I was practicing. It's really a fine line with the consistency. She'll need to play around with what works ... do you know if she is using the PC spritz cookie recipe or something different? The dough can't be wet/sticky OR too hard ... Also, the cookie sheets/stones can't be hot and I heard that parchment paper won't work either because they are non-stick & the cookies won't grab onto it ... there is a whole other thread about this that you would probably like. With good recipes too! :)

Tell her to add more flour. Not too much but a little at a time until it's better. My uncle was having the same problem and I told him to do the same thing. It worked much better for him. When we compared recipes both of our have 1 lb of butter but his only had 2 1/2 cups flour while mine had 4 1/2!

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that your customer is having trouble with her cookie press. As a Pampered Chef consultant, I have some tips that may help her out.First, it's important to make sure that the cookie dough is the right consistency. If it's too soft or too hard, it won't come out of the press properly. You can suggest that she refrigerate the dough for a bit before using the press.Secondly, it's important to make sure the press is assembled correctly. The cookie dough should be placed in the cylinder with the plunger on top, and then the desired disc should be placed on the end of the press. If the disc is not aligned properly, it can cause the cookies to come out disfigured.Lastly, make sure to apply even pressure when pressing the cookies. Too much pressure can cause the dough to stick to the press, while too little pressure can result in uneven cookies.I hope these tips help and that your customer is able to successfully use her cookie press. If she continues to have trouble, please don't hesitate to reach out to me for further assistance. Happy baking!

1. What should I do if my cookie press is clogging or not extruding dough properly?

If your cookie press is clogging or not extruding dough properly, try using dough that is slightly warmer and softer. You can also try adding a small amount of vegetable oil to the dough to help it glide through the press more smoothly. Make sure to also push the dough firmly against the sides of the press to prevent air pockets.

2. How can I prevent my cookie press from leaking dough?

To prevent your cookie press from leaking dough, make sure the dough is not too soft or runny. Additionally, make sure the plunger is screwed tightly onto the press before use. Avoid overfilling the press and apply consistent pressure when pressing the dough to prevent it from squirting out uncontrollably.

3. What should I do if my cookie press is jammed?

If your cookie press is jammed, first try disassembling it and cleaning out any dough or debris that may be stuck inside. Check the plunger and disks for any damage or obstructions. If the issue persists, contact Pampered Chef customer service for further assistance.

4. How can I ensure that my cookie press maintains its shape while baking?

To ensure that your cookies maintain their shape while baking, make sure the dough is chilled before using it in the press. This will help the dough hold its shape better. You can also try baking the cookies on a cool, ungreased baking sheet to prevent them from spreading too much.

5. Can I use my cookie press for anything other than cookies?

While cookie presses are primarily designed for making cookies, they can also be used for other types of dough, such as churros or cheese straws. However, make sure to thoroughly clean the press and disks before and after using it for non-cookie dough to prevent cross-contamination of flavors.
