Struggling to Leave: Overcoming Addiction and Moving On for My Daughter's Sake

In summary, Sarah's first 30 days of working as a personal consultant ended with her breaking down at work. Her father was in a car accident 14 years ago and has many injuries, which has put stress on her. She is undergoing counseling and taking antidepressants, but they are not enough. Her family is limited to her father's large supportive family and she will have to leave if she leaves her current state. Her daughter's father is in a cycle of substance abuse and is about to lose his job. Her family is moving to get away from him.

Just trying to mak it though the weekend living with the father of my 2yr old! It 4 in the morning & only got 3 hours of sleep yet again! The only reason still sticking around is that I have 3 parties to close out b4 the third of sept. When my first 30 days ends!

Her father was in a car accident 14 years ago & had many injuries & is now abusing his pain meds! Due to the stress this has put on me I am undergoing counceling & on anti-depressants & that is still not enough! I have no family except his large supportive family in this state so when I leave I will have to move out of state!

I love this man when not stoned out of his mind but he can't stay clean! This used to cycle every few months we would hit hard times then he would straighten up and would b ok 4 a few months! Lately its been cycling within weeks!

Told my family I couldn't walk away til I felt I have tried everything I could & now I feel like I have! & now I have to call my family and ask 4 help which I know is available just very hard to do! But I have to get my daughter out of this mess!

So on top of closing out 3 parties I also have to start packing & work on moving while stearing clear of junkie father! Feeling a little overwhelmed imagine that!

Please pray that I keep my strength and make my break this time as soon as my parties r over!

my prayers are with you.

Praying for you, for him, and for your family.

My prayers are with you!

I am praying for a complete healing for your daughter's father. If he'll listen, please have him go to Setting Captives Free at Freedom from habitual sin: Overeating, Pornography, Smoking, Drinking. This is a wonderful online ministry all about helping people overcome destructive addictions.

I normally do not encourage families to break-up, but you're right that your little girl should not be exposed to this trauma. I hope she can eventually have a healthy relationship with her father. You are wonderful for having tried so hard for so long, and I'll be praying, also, that the next chapter in your life is happy and successful.

Great job on what you've accomplished in your first 30 days, by the way. Good thing about PC, you can take your business with you.

Praying for you and your family...Thanks Sarah for the resource.

so sorry you and your daughter have to deal with this. Stay strong and do what is best for HER! I am definately praying for you, your baby, and this man. I pray he can get clean with or without you.

I called my parents yesterday and they are comming on friday to load up the u-haul & get me and daughter home!

Since last post bf broke down @ work cause we were leaving! He was sent to get drug tested & we r pretty sure he has lost his job now!

Also just got a call from my recruiter! She is quitting the business! She said she will still b available to me anytime but will not be doing it herself anymore! I understand her reasons but selfishly am frustrated!

So if anyone from near Lafayette area in Indiana has hospitality that would b a great help!

Thanks for all the prayers & support!

Good things come with change, its good that you are leaving for you and your DD. Sarah's tips were good. My older sister struggled with Drugs b/c of chronic pain for a long long time and until that person realizes they have a problem its a tough battle but I commend you for staying strong and making the right move!

Wanted to let everyone know my daughter & I are safe & sound in Indiana now! My parents have an empty rental house that they are letting us use til we get on our feet! It needs some work done to b liveable! The main floor is fine but the bedrooms upstairs the pplaster is falling from the ceiling & walls! They were not expecting to fill it so quickly! But until that gets done my parents live across the street so we will stay there until we can get the house ready! Thanks for all the prayers & support! I am finally able to relax & enjoy time with my daughter again! Her father had surgery & docs are sure he will have full mobility of his hand again! & is being kept in the hospital until bed becomes available for inpatient rehab! Thank god they finally took his phone away from him! Now just getting updates from the family!

Prayers of strength for you! Life throws us curve balls but I have always believed that God doesn't give us more than we can handle and many times we don't know our strength until he gives us tests to prove it. You are a SUPERWOMAN! Know we are all here when you need us!

Glad you got you and your DD out safely! Praying for you all. Call your hosts and tell them you had to leave for your safety (if you feel close enough to them) or just say it's a family emergency but you want to get their products to them! May God bless you in your new home!

Lots of prayers for you and your family. I know you already know this, but you did the best thing for you and your DD.

Hope all is well and that you continue to have great success!

Praise the Lord for getting you and DD out safely; for understanding and supportive parents. Prayers for you and your family to stay strong for your DD, and for you to be able to pick up the pieces of your life, and move on. One word of encouragement, our family grew through a similar situation in one of our children's lives. The Father has now been clean for 10 years. There is hope.

thanks for all the support! I am very excited we now have elecrticity @ our house! Now me & DD are nursing for our fevers! What a week! The docs have diagnosed B/F as bi-polar & his family says he is working hard @ getting his life back on track now that they have him off the narcotics & he is no longer smoking! Things can only get better from here on out! Planning another grand opening next week to get back into the swing of things!
