My Mother-in-Law didn't want to host a show. She's in her 80s, and doesn't think she knows anyone who would be interested in the products. I did point out that she was interested in the products, and she found items to make her life easier. I mentioned that her mahjong group was perfect for hosting a party with, and that she could even do a catalog show. She was not interested.
We just went on vacation with the whole family... 15 of us in one house. I brought my PC items and let people use them as they were cooking. Everyone loved the items, and I got a fair amount of sales. We pulled names out of a hat, and MIL got the party. She wasn't ordering much, so her entire order was free.
She was so excited that she won the booking, and now she's going to bring a catalog to her Mahjong ladies to see if she can get more free items. She even thought we rigged the name pulling (we didn't) so she'd get free stuff, and she was happy that we had (even though we really didn't!).
If you have the opportunity to have a mystery host for your shows, go for it. At the very least, someone will be grateful for the free and half priced items. And you might also get them to scare up some more outside sales!
