My Aunt Is Having Heart Surgery Tomorrow

In summary, for your aunt's post-surgery diet, it is recommended to make heart-healthy meals consisting of baked or grilled lean meats, steamed or roasted vegetables, and whole grain dishes. Some useful kitchen tools for meal prep include a vegetable steamer, garlic press, nonstick pan, and food processor. Easy and nutritious recipes for your aunt's diet can be found on the Pampered Chef website, such as quinoa and vegetable stir-fry, grilled chicken and vegetable wrap, and black bean and sweet potato chili. Your aunt's doctor will provide specific dietary guidelines, but a heart-healthy diet generally includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats while limiting processed foods, saturated and trans fats

I am scared. No one in our family has under gone this type of surgery. She is only 11 years older, 60, than I am! She is the youngest of my mom's 4 siblings. She has a bad ticker. Apparently there are several issues including a partially blocked artery. She goes in tomorrow to get it all fixed up. Thank you!

Will be praying for her. It is scary, but she'll feel so much better afterwards. My mom has had numerous procedures, and the last was a triple bypass. We too were worried, but I'm happy to report she came through without any problems. The recovery was long, but she felt amazing. Even her complexion came back! Her surgery was exactly 5 years ago!

Praying for your aunt! My father-in-law has had a triple bypass at least 10 years ago and he's still going strong (and he's 84 yrs old now). Luckily these procedures have been done for many years now - let us know how it goes.

I think the power of prayer is amazing! 4 years ago my grandpa (who was 88) was diagnosed with lung cancer - he had surgery to remove his lung and recovered beautifully. Happy to say he turns 92 this May and is still doing well:)Your aunt is young which I'm sure will help her as well in her recovery.

Hugs and prayers coming your way. She will be OK!
