don't advertise on other peoples sites without their permission... and if you do you may get a letter like this.

I would like to know why someone would do this to me........... I did not know that if a bridal fair that I did ... and then they put my information on their website without my knowledge would cause this!!!!! Someone really has a lot of time on their hands!!!! ALL I did was have my name and email address on their and a photo of a booth ummmm excuse me that isn't really advertising or is it?? If we can't advertise exactly someone tell me this how in gods green earth are we supposed to do ummm shows???? cause this makes no sense to me... and yes I sent her and email back and you can say it wasn't' so nice!!!!and no I wasn't the only one that got this letter... the other consultant that got this email either!!!! Hi Leah, It has come to our attention that there is an advertisement of your business on the following Web site: http://www.weddingsatthebeach.org/home.cfm?dir_cat=75413
According to the guidelines mapped out on page F-21 of the Consultant Business Guide, “Other than through your Pampered Chef Personal Web site, you may not promote or advertise your business on any other Web site, Internet directory, search engine, etc.” It also states on page F-20 that in addition to the ban on linking to Personal Web sites, “any other form of advertising on the Web is prohibited.” Please remove this advertisement or request the removal of this advertisement by July 20, 2007. Copy me on all correspondence that may be sent to this site requesting removal of this ad. Please be advised that if we do not receive this information, it may result in the disabling of the Individual Ordering option on your Personal Web Site. We trust that you want to abide by the guidelines and we look forward to your compliance. What sucks is that the people from the bridal fair were trying to be nice and give you some advertising. Now you have to call them and say "thanks" but "no thanks":(

The fair happens in March of this year... however part of the singed agreement with them is that your information remains on "FILE" with them for "ONE YEAR" ..... now how did I know what they meant???? I emailed them and asked them to remove and explain why I have not heard back from them yet!! :(

  • #21
I would call HO and read their own policy to them! That's messed up! Hopefully you can get it taken care of! Good Luck!

Well not only did I give HO a time frame to respond back to me before I take further action hahah meaning I CALL THEM!!!! :D I also gave the bridal show that I was involved with a time frame to get back to me... and I also told each of them to duke it out with one another and leave me the heck out of it!!!!

  • #23
Leah I am so sorry to hear that you got the letter. I am sure everything will work out just fine. Good luck

The thing that keeps coming to my mind is they have all these people who go out of their way on Myspace and EBAY to advertise their business.... and they choose to pick on people like me who can not control what a fair does with their website.... if that makes sense!!

  • #25
As long as you ask anyone who puts your information up to remove it and copy HO you will be fine. Be sure to do it by email so you have the electronic trail.

If they don't remove it HO will contact them. HO monitors the web and finds these things - I would bet it's at least 50/50 that noone said anything and they found it on their own. They are just trying to have an even playing field for us all.

I know it's scary and frustrating to get this kind of notice but shake it off. As long as you are following the rules and show them that you are trying, you'll be okay.

Oh Leah, I'm sorry. It really depends who you are... go to google and type in "Shan Eisler". HO has known about that for a year now and has done nada.

If I recall correctly execs are allowed to advertise.

  • #28
Shan Eisler is an Exec and I think Execs and above are allowed to have websites outside of PWS. It's a perk. Please correct me if I'm wrong, someone! (Like that'd be a problem!) Because I may very well be misunderstanding the policy.

  • #29
You are correct. Execs and above may have a website for training their team. If it's a sales site, that's not allowed.

  • #30
Are execs allowed to advertise product sales and the business opportunity on their websites?

  • Thread starter
  • #31
See this isn't' a sales site... it was a website that the Fair put up... to list all their vendors..... it doesn't' even have my PSW on it listed.. I made sure that wasn't' listed on anything that I gave them prior to the bridal fair if the brides want something then they can come and contact me personally was my thought. Oh well see what I get for doing what I thought was right???

  • #32
I do not think they are. But I'd have to check the policies and the Director handbook.

Edited to add: This is in response to Laura's post. Leah snuck in there while I was typing. :)

No offense, Leah, but before everyone jumps on the "I hate HO" bandwagon, did anyone else click on the link to see what was presented?
It wasn't just an email address and a picture, it was a whole page about the benefits of the Wedding Registry. That specific information had to have been provided to them.
Just ask the Bridal Show people to remove it and you should be fine. But, if we aren't even allowed to post that we are consultants in online profiles, this is definitely not allowed.
Just MHO.

I know what is listed .... however when a fair ask you for information you do have to provide it...... so that is what we did...... The problem is I did not that this is not allowed because we weren't even allowed to sell anything at the bridal show... I could get bookings and I could sign people up for the registry BUT that's it........

Leah, I just clicked on the link and saw TWO Consultant's listed. Have you contacted her to see if she got the same thing from HO?

  • #37
Ok everyone WOAH!!!!!

Leah this stinks and can see how it would start your day off bad.

The POP does state that you can have your info up for a bridal fair but it states that the info must be removed after the fair or event is over.

Everything Beth said is correct. Just have the site take your info off.

This happens alot if you sign up with an organization to do fairs. They will put your info up without you even knowing. I am a member of my local Chamber and I have to keep checking and reminding them not to put me on the site. And to make sure they are listing me correctly.

Also I know this all stinks especailly with all those who break the rules via myspace and ebay (not going there again I am trying to let all that go...). As long as you know you are running an honest business to the best of your ability then you will be fine.

She got the same letter that I did...... :( that is part of the reason that I am so upset... because when you think your doing something right... or just providing information things like this happen....

I have emailed the bridal fair once already and I havent' got a response yet... :( ... nor have I got a response from anyone at HO either....:(........

Can I cry yet???

  • #39
Leah... Just CC all your emails to the brial company to HO and they will know you are trying and can not fault you!

It will be OK!

HO will get back to you.. don't worry. Today is day 3 of Session 3 and tomorrow starts the canadian conferences. HO is short staffed... someone will get back to you. Keep your chin up!

what Colleen said!!

;)

1. Sorry you are upset by the letter - they are just doing right and fair to all of us.
2. As everyone said, work to remove it and you are fine. HO isn't "out to get you" just to correct that...and I'm glad to see they actually do it!
3. For fairs, if they MAKE you provide information - clearly state that it CANNOT be displayed on their website. That will help avoid it in the future.
4. Upper levels do have some higher priviledges - I don't know them all, but if you have a legitimate, specific question, address it to HO rather than naming names and stirring up trouble. We've been respectful in the past to say "a director" so let's keep it that way.
5. I'm in list mode - sorry...must be the engineer in me...

I have had to make five phone calls today becasue I am signed up to do some fairs this summer to make sure that they are not going to have my ad listed on their site.... so here is a question for everyone..... can we as consultants have our names and phone numbers listed as "INDEPENDANT" constlants without an lets say it was a vendor listing on a fair's website???

  • #45
We're supposed to idnetify ourselves as "Independent Consultant for The Pampered Chef®", because that's the official title.

Rather than risk having HO consider it advertising when the fair posts your name online, how about telling the fair you can't be listed online at all and see if they'll give you a discounted rate?

Unfortunately it is work to do "right". Good job following up on your business though to make it right.

If you have any specific questions, just to be sure, I'd contact career solutions like it says in your letter for any help.

I think we can get an okay from HO to have our info put on a website for a fundraiser. I would think a fair would be the same. Of course that's before the event - just a thought for future reference to everyone.

How did you get them to register that day?
I tried that at a fair, but they herded them through like cattle and no one wanted to do it that day.
