I was just wondering if anyone missed me while I was gone. We've had a little drama in the Bates Bungalow.
In mid-July The Furry Guy was putting a 40-foot ladder against the house to aid in installing a light so I would stop tripping over cats and sidewalk cracks in the dark. He thought he pulled a muscle in the process.
It was getting better until Sunday, August 28. He was helping some friends when he felt like he'd reinjured that muscle. He had quite a bit of pain between his shoulder blade and his spine. That Monday was his last day at work. He's struggled with pain and numbness in his left shoulder, arm, and hand.
After a misdiagnosis and reactions to a few different medications, it was finally determined that he had two compressed nerves in his neck. He saw the spine specialist on Thursday, September 22, at 1:30 pm, and had surgery to remove 2discs and fuse 3 vertebrae at 7:30 am the next day. He's doing well, but it's been a whirlwind.
I'm really grateful for my PC business. The funny thing is that I had a show scheduled about 90 minutes from our house in the opposite direction from the doctor's office on Thursday evening. On the Monday before my host contacted me to reschedule. I told her that was fine. It was going to be a tight timeline for me anyway because of TFG's appointment, anyway. Well, praise God that she rescheduled. We spent Thursday getting his tests done and gathering info for work and the surgeon. We had to leave our geographical-center-of-nowhere home before 4 am to be at the hospital for his 5:30 check-in. I'm so glad I had the time and flexibility to do what TFG needed me to do for him.
