China Travel Reflections: My Exciting and Crowded Adventure | Homecoming

In summary, Linda and her husband went to China and had a great time. China was different than they had ever imagined it would be and the traffic was horrendous. However, the people and the culture were amazing. They miss everyone back home and are excited to post some pictures once they have downloaded them.

We finally got home this evening. China was awesome and so different than I had ever dreamed it would be! I was amazed at the number of people there I have never seen so many people - every where you look there are people. The streets are crowded with bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, cars, taxis, buses...and more people. Traffic is horrendous there. And it was HOTTER than Hades too! The entire two weeks we never saw the sun. The Chinese people tell you that it is the haze against the mountains, but I personally believe that it was air polution and smog!

I missed all of you and I will post some photos as soon as I get a chance to download them (I have over 1000 pictures to go through so some of them should be good).

It is smog. Pollution is bad there. But it's a pretty amazing nation with a rich history and lots to see. Glad you had a good time!

You were gone? JUST KIDDING!!!!

I'm soo jealous!! I would LOVE to go to China, I can't wait to see the pictures!!!

Glad you're back. Hope you had a great time! Can't wait to see your pictures. How exciting it must have been. (So, how were the toilets? :D)

Welcome home my dear! Can't wait to see pics and hear stories!

hahahaha - I took a picture just for ya'll (and John)! LOL

the public toiltes were pretty nasty. they usually had both the "squatters" (Turkish Toilet) and the "sitters" (regular toilet). However - you still had to do the "Hover Maneuver" on the "sitters" (there were not enough sanitary wipes available to make them appealing)....kwim? LOL

eeeeuuuwwww...... Did your stash of supplies last the whole trip? Both the TP and the creamer. :) Missed you, but glad you had a great time. Maybe I'll phone you today...

welcome home!!!!

Welcome home Linda, can't wait to see your photos.

Yes, I did. Thanks! I didn't reply to it because I figured your inbox would be full, and that you'd still be working your way through that.

What wonderful memories you and your family created!! I'm so happy for you!

Thanks for sharing the fabulous pics!

1. What were some of the highlights of your trip to China?

Some of the highlights of my trip to China included visiting the Great Wall, trying authentic Chinese cuisine, and experiencing the bustling city life in Beijing and Shanghai.

2. How did you handle the crowds while traveling in China?

I made sure to plan my itinerary carefully and avoid popular tourist spots during peak hours. I also used public transportation during off-peak times and took breaks in quieter areas to recharge.

3. Did you face any language barriers during your trip?

Yes, I did face some language barriers, especially in smaller cities and rural areas. However, I found that most people were friendly and willing to use hand gestures and basic English to communicate.

4. What tips do you have for someone traveling to China for the first time?

Be prepared for a different culture and way of life. Do some research beforehand, learn a few basic phrases in Mandarin, and be open to trying new things. Also, make sure to have a reliable translation app on your phone.

5. What was your favorite souvenir or memento from your trip?

I bought a beautiful hand-painted fan from a local artist, and it has become one of my favorite souvenirs from my trip. I also collected small trinkets and postcards from each city I visited as a reminder of my adventures in China.
