Why Can Some Have a Pampered Chef Myspace Page? A Frustrating Discovery

M
mmmorgan20
Why is it that when I did a search on Myspace for Pampered Chef, over 20 people are having their own page? It kinda irritates me because I CAN'T DO THAT SO WHY CAN THEY? Obviously HO isn't doing their job and kicking those people off of their myspace pages. UGH!!! I'm about to post a message to each and everyone one to let them know they just can't do it.

Send the links to the HO for each one. They can only do so much. I have reported 2 different ebayers selling the FW/2008 items.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. Others have done it before (in a nice way) and had some nasty backlash from it.

Funny I saw a lady on Craigslist advertising her free catalogs and shows and sent her a nice message that you are not allowed to advertise on there. She didn't respond so I reported her. After Home Office contacted her she sent me a very nasty message. Obviously she did get my message, but didn't care to respond until HO contacted her. She is still on there. The only thing they will do is take away her website and she must not have one so she doesn't care. I can't do it so why do all these other people do it, just isn't fair!

There are quite a few on Facebook, too. I even found some who LINK THEIR PWS on their Facebook profile. So irritating. I know HO can't be everywhere all the time, believe me, but it stinks that some people get away with it (personally, I know that it's just my luck that if I even thought about trying that, HO would catch me immediately! Ha!).

Yeah...it isn't right for some to do it and get away with it. The lady on eBay has a high rating so she has been doing this quite a while. I emailed her but she didn't answer me! She had Season's Best F/W 08 on there for starting bid of 99 cents with $3.50 postage! I emailed her to ask why the postage was so high...did it from my eBay email that I use on sites I don't want them to have my "pc" or "friend" email! She never answered me!

Megan, take a deep breath and then report each one to HO. They are doing their job, but obviously there are far too many people breaking the rules for them to be able to keep up with.

DO NOT confront these people~it will just make you even more angry! My DH has a saying about "fair"~"fair is what the county holds once a year". Some people are just determined to find an easy way to do their business, wrong or not!

Some people may not be aware what the policy is so a gentle reminder from HO might be the ticket. I forgot to mention this to one of my new consultants and she put her PC info on MySpace ... I wouldn't have known about it but she mentioned it to me one day....So, make sure you tell your recruits as well.

DO NOT do this!!!! You will get yourself in a mess of a magnitude I can not even describe! Most of these people know they are doing wrong and get very defensive and nasty. There are more than a few of us arround here who have been thru this and it is not pretty!!!

Just report them to HO.

Then you are one of the smart ones with a concience (sp?), and I applaud you. Many people do it and know it is against the rules and do not care.

Don't blame HO. They are working it. I had a new consultant post on myspace the day after she signed and HO contacted her within two days. (I was out of town when she signed and hadn't had the chance to go over the advertising policies.)

I am a firm believer in 'what goes around, comes around.' Report violaters to HO. They will handle it (and monitor it accordingly). Those who didn't realize they were violating policy will make corrections right away. Those who are trying to leverage an unfair advantage will eventually get their comeuppance.

Some people don't know, but sadly some do & just don't care. HO does do their job; but you can also report to them & they will email the offenders. They'll give them a warning & tell them to remove it...simple as that. If they don't comply, then HO will take further action by removing their PC website.
I've said it before, but for those that don't know...you can't even post bulletins about PC, with links anyway. I did thinking it was just like an email, but somehow HO found out & I got reported.

When you think about the internet being such a large information area it would be a very difficult job trying to keep up with violaters. HO is the only way to go. We don't need the drama.

When I first started with PC and noticed all these online offenders, I spent HOURS and HOURS searching them out and notifying HO.
Then my mom pointed out to me that:
a) HO *pays* someone to find these people...they're not paying me to find them
b) all this time I was "spending" searching and turning these people in was essentially WASTED time that I could have spent working my business.
BIG eye-opener for me.
I got off the web and on the phone and booked some shows. I suggest you do the same.
HO has people on payroll to search and deal-with web-offenders - do your job and let them do theirs.

That's true to an extent, but HO is always appreciative when when we send them offenses we've found. My suggestion is to send in those you see on your day-to-day web surfing, but don't waste time actively looking for them.

This isn't true. If she continues, they will terminate her contract. I'd report her again, because obviously she knows what's right now, and is choosing to ignore it and break the rules.

This is exactly my point.
Spend your time on business-building activities...(said by the chick surfing CS right now - LOL...but that's only 'cause I can't make CC calls at 10:20pm...)

I went on Ebay and found 2 people selling both opened stores. The one woman sold 527 items of PC stuff just this month. She has been operating since 2006. Are we to trust HO is really on this? Seems very unfair.

  • #21
sometimes there is no way for HO to connect the ebayer to PC...it could be that a "friend" is selling their PC items for them...or that they are on ebay under an assumed name.........

When the items changed on outlet, I was irritated to find a woman selling the mini-server for $9.99 plus shipping. I sent a message to her asking how she could charge so much for an item that is selling for $2. She got kind of snippy with me ....she said she WASNT a consultant and by the time she pays shipping and handling...I thought it was weird that she got so defenseive about being a consultant...(maybe she USED to be??)

I just fixed my facebook. I did not realize that I could not put it in a "work profile" section. I thought it was more like, don't promote people to contact you. I changed it to not use the Pampered Chef name at all in the whole profile.

I had my info on myspace before I knew better. If someone sent me a nasty email it would have put a bad taste in my mouth. But I did take it down once I found out on my own. Some people may not know. But selling on Ebay icks me because they are very clear on that. I personnaly do not see the differance in these bullentin boards and posting else where.

Actually , the offender forwarded me the e-mail that home office sent her. Here it is. It looks to me like the only thing they will do is shut her website down. I am done reporting after this lady, I have better things to do. I just find it sad that people cheat to get a head. I would love to be on Cragislist to get business, but I won't do it.

It has come to our attention that there is an advertisement of your business on the following Web site:

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/hsh/***********.html

According to the guidelines mapped out in the Internet Advertising and Publicity Guidelines, “Other than through your Pampered Chef Personal Web site, you may not promote or advertise your business on any other Web site, Internet directory, search engine, etc.”

It also states that in addition to the ban on linking to Personal Web sites, “any other form of advertising on the Web is prohibited.”

Please remove or request the removal of the advertisement and all other Pampered Chef related text and material no later than by August 23, 2008. If it was the first time HO contacted her about it, then it would be a warning with minimal consequences (shutting down online ordering on her PWS). I believe that subsequent contact from HO for the same offense will result in harsher consequences.

1. Why are there over 20 people with their own Pampered Chef Myspace page?

There could be a few reasons for this. Some people may have created their own page without realizing there is a company page already available. Others may have created pages before the company page was established. Additionally, some may be independent consultants who are allowed to promote their business on Myspace.

2. Why can't I have my own Pampered Chef Myspace page?

It is possible that the company has specific guidelines or rules for their Myspace presence, and creating individual pages may not be allowed. It is also possible that the company prefers to have one official page to maintain a consistent brand image.

3. Why aren't these people's pages being taken down by Myspace?

Myspace may not actively monitor or regulate the content of their users' pages. Additionally, since the individuals may not be violating any terms of use or copyright laws, their pages may not be taken down.

4. Can I report these pages to Myspace?

Yes, you can report any page that you believe violates Myspace's terms of use or community guidelines. However, it is ultimately up to Myspace to decide whether or not to take any action.

5. What can I do about this frustrating discovery?

You can try reaching out to the individuals directly to inform them about the company's official Myspace page and encourage them to join that community instead. You can also report the pages to Myspace if you believe they are violating any guidelines. Ultimately, it may be best to focus on promoting and supporting the official company page instead of worrying about individual pages.
