Does the Stainless Cookware Get a Film on It With First Use?

In summary, the film on stainless steel cookware after first use is caused by residual oils or minerals from cooking and can be removed by using a mixture of vinegar and water. I have a customer send me a picture of her stainless cookware and it looks like it has a film. She said she did not spray it and browned turkey........... Any help?

What does the film look like? Tell her to try rinsing it with vinegar or cleaning it with bar keeper's friend.

There are a few possible causes for a film on stainless steel cookware after browning turkey:1. Residue from cooking oil: When browning meat, it is common to use oil or butter to prevent sticking. If the oil is not fully wiped off after cooking, it can leave a film on the stainless steel surface. To remove this, simply wash the cookware with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly.2. Protein buildup: Turkey, like other meats, contains proteins that can stick to the cookware and create a film. To remove this, soak the cookware in warm water with a few drops of dish soap for 10-15 minutes, then scrub with a non-abrasive sponge or brush.3. Hard water deposits: If the customer has hard water, the minerals in the water can leave a film on the cookware. To remove this, soak the cookware in a solution of equal parts vinegar and water for 10-15 minutes, then scrub with a non-abrasive sponge or brush.4. Heat damage: If the cookware was overheated during the browning process, it can cause a discoloration or film on the surface. To avoid this, make sure to use the appropriate heat setting for the cookware and do not leave it on the heat source for too long.In all cases, it is important to thoroughly clean and dry the cookware after use to prevent any buildup or damage. If the film persists or the cookware is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
