Do I Need a .Mac Account for Mac Email?

In summary, you do not need a .Mac account to use Mac Email as it can be accessed through various email clients. You can also use your existing email address with Mac Email and set up multiple email addresses. While a .Mac account offers additional features, it is not necessary for using Mac Email and requires a subscription fee. Additionally, Mac Email is compatible with both Mac and PC as long as you have an email client that supports IMAP or POP protocols.

Do I have to have a .Mac account to just have a mac email. My trail is about to run out... but I'm not interested in PC access to my mac stuff. I just want email.

Thanks!

gmail, yahoo, hotmail, there's probably even more.Has anyone noticed that Microsoft is trying to swallow Yahoo? That's a little scary, IMHO.
