I am doing a show today and just realized I only have the Blueberry Lemon Sauce left of our dessert sauces. It is a Brownie/Cake show with toppings. Looking for any suggestions you might have to enhance this one sauce. What goes will with it?

There is an old cake recipe from the It's Good for You cookbook that is a blueberry-lemon cake that this would be wonderful to drizzle on. It would also be great if you made either an angle food cake or pound cake, topped with fresh fruit, the sauce, lemon zest, and cool whip.

1. Fresh Berries: Top your brownies or cake with the blueberry lemon sauce and fresh berries such as blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries. The combination of the tartness from the lemon and the sweetness of the berries will be a perfect match.2. Whipped Cream: Serve the blueberry lemon sauce alongside a dollop of whipped cream. The creamy texture of the whipped cream will balance out the tanginess of the sauce.3. Vanilla Ice Cream: Serve the blueberry lemon sauce warm over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The contrast of warm and cold, as well as the sweet and tangy flavors, will make for a delicious dessert.4. Lemon Zest: Add some extra lemon flavor by grating some lemon zest on top of the blueberry lemon sauce. This will add a bright and refreshing touch to your dessert.5. Almonds: Sprinkle some chopped almonds on top of the blueberry lemon sauce for a crunchy texture and nutty flavor. This is a great way to add some extra depth to the dessert.6. Pound Cake: Serve the blueberry lemon sauce with a slice of pound cake. The dense and buttery cake will soak up the sauce and create a delicious flavor combination.7. Yogurt: For a healthier option, serve the blueberry lemon sauce over a bowl of plain yogurt. This will make for a refreshing and light dessert.8. Lemon Curd: Swirl some lemon curd into the blueberry lemon sauce for an extra burst of lemon flavor. This will also add a thicker and creamier texture to the sauce.9. Honey: Drizzle some honey over the blueberry lemon sauce for a touch of sweetness. This will complement the tangy flavors of the sauce and add a subtle floral note.10. Brie Cheese: Serve the blueberry lemon sauce with a slice of brie cheese. The creamy and rich cheese will pair well with the tartness of the sauce.

1. What ingredients are needed to make the blueberry lemon sauce?

The blueberry lemon sauce for brownie/cake dessert requires 1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1/4 cup of water.

2. Can I use this sauce for other desserts besides brownies and cake?

Absolutely! This versatile sauce can be used on top of ice cream, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, or even as a topping for cheesecake. The possibilities are endless!

3. How do I make the sauce thicker or thinner?

If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can add a cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon of water) to the mixture while it is cooking. For a thinner sauce, simply add more water or lemon juice to your liking.

4. Can I use frozen blueberries instead of fresh?

Yes, frozen blueberries can be used in this recipe. Just be sure to thaw them before adding them to the saucepan.

5. How long does the blueberry lemon sauce last in the fridge?

The sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. If frozen, it can last for up to 3 months.
